Structural reinforcement of masonry with glass fiber fabrics should follow the procedure [Pg.150]

Preparation and cleaning of the support in order to obteiin perfectly clean emd dry surfaces having good mechanical properties (in case the reinforcement application surface appears very irregular, its regularity wiU be provided by the help of specieil hydraulic grouts) [Pg.150]

Application of epoxy primer according to the instructions provided in the related technical sheet application on the wet primer of a layer of epoxy putty, following the instructions provided in the related technical sheet, in order to eliminate any possible geometric imperfections of the support [Pg.150]

A schematic illustration of a typical inlet apparatus for separating volatile hydrides from the analyte solution, in which they are generated upon reduction with sodium tetrahydroborate. When the mixed analyte solution containing volatile hydrides enters the main part of the gas/liquid separator, the volatiles are released and mix with argon sweep and makeup gas, with which they are transported to the center of the plasma. The unwanted analyte solution drains from the end of the gas/liquid separator. The actual construction details of these gas/liquid separators can vary considerably, but all serve the same purpose. In some of them, there can be an intermediate stage for removal of air and hydrogen from the hydrides before the latter are sent to the plasma. [Pg.100]

A schematic diagram showing the general construction of an arc or spark source. Actual construction details depend partly on whether samples need to be analyzed automatically. The sample material can be placed on the cathode or can even compose the whole of the cathode. If graphite is used, the sample needs to be pressed into the shape of a cathode after admixture with the carbon. [Pg.113]

Type tests are conducted on the first enclosure of each voltage, current rating and fault level to demonstrate compliance with electrical and constructional design parameters. The tests provide a standard reference for any subsequent enclosure with similar ratings and constructional details. The following tests may be conducted to demonstrate verification of the following ... [Pg.421]

Routine tests are conducted on each completed assembly, irrespective of voltage, eurreni, fault level and constructional details and whether it has already undergone the type tests. The following steps will form routine tests ... [Pg.421]

In lower voltage ratings, as noted above, the puffer technique is quite prevalent and is adopted by all leading manufacturers. For constructional details and more information on this mechanism, refer to the manufacturers catalogues. Figure 19.18 illustrates a typical pole assembly of a 12 kV, SFft circuit breaker. [Pg.641]

The design criteria and construction details of this system are totally different from those of a non-isolaled phase bus system. This type of enclosure is therefore dealt separately in Chapter 31. [Pg.861]

Manufacturer s bid proposals should include all of the information specified by the blanks on the specification sheet and in addition, details of construction, details regarding driver, gear, etc., and a guaranteed performance curve showing the effect of 10% change in wnter quantity and lower wet bulb temperature, similar to Figure 9-107. [Pg.385]

The solution to this would require constructional details of the proposed racking system and each pallet will now require an area of about 1.400 X 1.075 m. Height clearance must be allowed for each tier - a total of 1.600 m each pallet high. Also, it is not possible for a fork-lift truck to reach three pallets deep into a stack, so the arrangement would now be two deep along the sides and four-deep... [Pg.171]

The tire constmction influences both cornering and longitudinal slip stiffness. These include the tire carcass, breaker construction, inflation pressure, and tread pattern design. However, since the two stiffness components can be measured, knowledge of the construction details is not necessary. The vehicle geometry influences the tire wear through the air resistance, which it creates, and through the load distribution between front and rear axles. [Pg.751]

Figure 4.50. Cumulative dissolution results. Two experimental tablet formulations were tested against each other in a dissolution test in which tablets are immersed in a stirred aqueous medium (number of tablets, constructional details and operation of apparatus, and amount of medium are givens). Eighty or more percent of the drug in either formulation is set free within 10 minutes. The slow terminal release displayed by formulation B could point towards an unwanted drug/excipient interaction. The vertical bars indicate ymean - with Sy 3%. A simple linear/exponential model was used to approximate the data for the strength 2 formulation. Strengths I and 3 are not depicted but look very similar. Figure 4.50. The roasting process mostly applied to sulfidic sources is carried out in appliances of different types with different design features. Without describing their features and constructional details, it may simply be mentioned here that some of the widely acclaimed roasting units are traveling grate furnaces, multiple hearth furnace, rotary kilns, and fluid-ized-bed roasters. [Pg.352]

The principal use of this method is in the rating of an existing exchanger. It can be used to determine the performance of the exchanger when the heat transfer area and construction details are known. The method has an advantage over the use of the design procedure outlined above, as an unknown stream outlet temperature can be determined directly, without the need for iterative calculations. It makes use of plots of the exchanger effectiveness versus NTU. The effectiveness is the ratio of the actual rate of heat transfer, to the maximum possible rate. [Pg.636]

The materials used to construct a foundation can often be used as an effective barrier to the entry of radon-laden soil gas. Below-grade walls may be constructed of poured concrete, masonry, or other materials such as pressure-treated wood or stone. The materials covered in this section, poured concrete and masonry block, are the materials most commonly used for new construction. Details of radon protection in permanent wood foundations can be found in an NFoPA publication.21... [Pg.1274]

There are several tricks described in the literature [28-39], which must be kept in mind in projecting a good superconducting thermal switch. High-purity metals are used in the form of thin foils or wires in order to increase kn and to reduce eddy current heating. An useful discussion of the constructive details of thermal switches is given in ref. [40]. [Pg.108]

Very practical for measurement between 4.2 K and room temperature are the so-called dipstick cryostats, designed for insertion into storage dewars (typically 5 cm neck diameter). Construction details of an insertable cryostat are reported in ref. [7],... [Pg.127]

The actual construction details of blowout panels is beyond the scope of the text. A detached blowout panel moving at high velocity can cause considerable damage. Therefore a mechanism must be provided to retain the panel during the deflagration process. Furthermore, thermal insulation of panels is also required. Construction details are available in manufacturers literature. [Pg.405]

When a domestic water well is drilled in the Province of New Brunswick, the well driller completes a Water Well Driller s Report outlining the well location, construction details, estimated water yield, and geology encountered. The report is forwarded to the DENV where the information is entered into the domestic well log database. [Pg.457]

The response will be limited to the elastic range even though cracking will probably be caused anyway by out-of-plane bending. Such pre-cracking is not i reliable enough for a design basis unless special construction details are provided to... [Pg.81]

The site is underlain by a sequence of unconsolidated, stratified sedimentary deposits. The water table occurs at depths of 52 to 71 ft below the ground surface, with occasional perched zones at depths of about 52 to 64 ft below the ground surface. Review of boring logs and well construction details and performance allowed for reevaluation of the subsurface environment. The soils were subsequently characterized based on relative permeability and depositional environment (Figures 12.21 and 12.22) as follows ... [Pg.379]
