High purity chemical

Liquid adsorption processes hold a prominent position ia several appHcations for the production of high purity chemicals on a commodity scale. Many of these processes were attractive when they were first iatroduced to the iadustry and continue to iacrease ia value as improvements ia adsorbents, desorbents, and process designs are made. The UOP Parex process alone has seen three generations of adsorbent and four generations of desorbent. Similarly, Hquid adsorption processes can be applied to a much more diverse range of problems than those presented ia Table 3. [Pg.303]

Both the sulfite and alkaline (kraft) methods can be modified to produce high purity chemical ceUulose. These pulps, usuaUy in the form of "dissolving pulps," are not only mosdy free of lignin and hemiceUulose, but the molecular weight of the ceUulose is degraded. This increases solubUity in alkah and provides desired viscosity levels in solution. These dissolving pulps are used to make derivatives such as sodium ceUulose xanthate [9051 -13-2] via alkah ceUulose, and various esters and ethers (see Cellulose esters Cellulose ethers). [Pg.238]

Ethylene oxide is sold as a high purity chemical, with typical specifications shown ia Table 14. This purity is so high that only impurities are specified. There is normally no assay specification. Proper sampling techniques are critical to avoid personal exposure and prevent contamination of the sample with trace levels of water. A complete review and description of analytical methods for pure ethylene oxide is given ia Reference 228. [Pg.463]

Historically, bulk delivery systems have used manual diaphragm valves located at the return end of the global piping system, another carryover from high-purity chemical systems. However, the shear sensitivity of many slurries has fostered the creation of other baek-pressure approaches, including... [Pg.67]

Polysaccharides must have — high purity — chemical, physical, and mechanical properties for proposed functions — high stability — easy fabricability Polysaccharides must not — destroy enzymes — cause immuneresponses — cause cancer — produce toxic and allergic reactions — deplete electrolytes... [Pg.4]

Cellulose Acetate and Triacetate Polymer. The production of acetate and triacetate polymer is accomplished by the esterification of high purity chemical cellulose, except for special plastic-grade acetates requiring low color and high clarity, where cotton linters are used... [Pg.630]

If preserved containers for water samples are not available, we should obtain small quantities of preservation chemicals from the laboratory and preserve samples in the field immediately after they have been collected. Only laboratory-grade, high purity chemicals, which have been certified as free of contaminants of concern, should be used as preservatives. [Pg.99]

Samples were prepared by conventional solid-state reaction. Stoichiometric amount of Li2C03 (Aldrich Co.), V2O3 (High Purity Chemicals) were mixed and sintered at 1100°C for 10 h in a N2 gas flow. [Pg.26]

Clinical chemistry, the metals industry, the analysis of high-purity chemicals and pure substances, environmental analysis and life sciences are the most important fields of application for AAS methods. [Pg.187]

The experimental procedure so far we have tried is described in Figure 5. The starting non-dope powders were prepared by High Purity Chemicals Co. Ltd. The impurities for conduction type adjustment were added via mechanical alloying, using steel tumbler mill, in argon atmosphere. [Pg.518]

The faradaic component of residual current due to impurities can be minimized by the thorough removal of dissolved oxygen by flushing the solution with an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon by the use of double-distiUed water or distilled deionized water, and by the use of high-purity chemicals. [Pg.310]

Correct calibration, using calibrants with known stoichiometry, is a necessary prerequisite for assured analytical work (Quevauviller 1996). The preparation of calibrant solutions (preferably in two parallel duplicates) should be carried out according to weight and not volume, and with the use of high-purity chemicals being self-evident. New lots of calibrants must be verified, and the use of internal standards is recommended as early as possible during the ana-... [Pg.1664]
