Collaborative working

We are grateful to Professor Andrew. Lyddiatt, Dr Horst Bierau and the University of Birmingham, UK, for various aspects of this collaborative work. 

The Research Association of Micro Chemical Process Technology (abbreviation MCPT) was established in July 2002 with the aim to conduct experimental research on micro-chemical process technology through the collaborative work of its members. The association has been implementing R D together with its members from 29 different firms of various industries including the chemical industry, the precision machinery industry, and the electrical equipments and electronics industry. In addition, the participation of national, public, and private universities as well as independent administrative institutions has been greatly appreciated. 

Within collaborative work on element concentrations in a number of biological reference materials using solid sampling and other analytical methods, calibration of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn in BCR CRM 185 Bovine liver with solid CRMs was performed for each element with a reference material of the same matrix, NIST SRM 1577... 

Unique combinations of properties continue to be discovered in inorganic and organometallic macromolecules and serve to continue a high level of interest with regard to potential applications. Thus, Allcock describes his collaborative work with Shriver (p. 250) that led to ionically conducting polyphosphazene/salt complexes with the highest ambient temperature ionic conductivities known for polymer/salt electrolytes. Electronic conductivity is found via the partial oxidation of unusual phthalocyanine siloxanes (Marks, p. 224) which contain six-coordinate rather than the usual four-coordinate Si.

Other collaborative work from our laboratories has recently shown a second biologically active peptide to be generated by cathepsin D (as well as pepsin)...

This programme turns DQF-COSY and HMBC spectra into bond constraints. Then it turns C DEPT spectra and the molecular formula into building blocks such as -CH3 and -CH2-. These are then assembled into as many complete structures as are compatible with the bond constraints. CISOC-SES is designed to be as compatible with real-world spectra with their attendant ambiguities as possible. CISOC-SES is a result of collaborative work with Bodenhausen et al. who had previously tackled the problem indepen-dently. CISOC-SES has since been commercialized as NMR-SAMS by Spectrum Research, EEC. 

Two reports in 1994 began to develop the concepts of coordination chemistry based self-assembly of heme into designed protein scaffolds. In collaborative work, the laboratories of DeGrado and Dutton provided two related architectures for de novo heme protein design...

Pyridine-based ligands which have been used for dendrimers are 2,2-bipyridine (bpy) 17,2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (2,3-dpp) 18 and its monomethylated salt 19, and 2,2 6, 2"-terpyridine 20. Their transition metal complexes possessing dendritic structures were first reported in the collaborative work of Denti, Campagne, and Balzani whose divergent synthetic strategy has led to systems containing 22 ruthenium centers. - The core unit is [Ru(2,3-dpp)3] 21 which contains three... 

In 1986, the Neutron Therapy Collaborative Working Group (NTCWG) compared neutrons (alone) and conventional photons. A significant difference (P < 0.01) was observed in clinical loco-regional failure, with actuarial 5-year failure rates of 11% vs. 32% after neutrons and photons, respectively (Fig. 12) [34]. Inclusion of routine posttreatment biopsies resulted in 5-year histological local-regional failure rates of 13% and 32%, respectively (P = 0.01).

In this Instance, however, excess amine may have to be employed to minimize the possibility of disubstltutlon by the living polymer. Collaborative work In this area Is currently being carried out at Waltham Abbey and the University of Montellleril and therefore, the results quoted here are in the nature of a progress report only.
