Screen changer A device bolted to the head end of an extruder, between extruder and die adapter, that allows the operator to quickly replace a dirty screen pack with a clean one, usually without having to rethread the downstream line. 

Because there are no drain connections at the bottom of the fuel storage pool, the spent fuel assemblies can never be exposed by an accidental valve opening or pipe break. Fuel is not stored in the upper containment pool during normal operation. A portable underwater vacuum system, similar to that used in swimming pools, can be used to clean pool walls, floors, and internals removed from the reactor vessel. Deposition at the water line of the pool walls is minimized by several surface skimmers. These devices remove a portion of the surface water and recycle it to the pool. 

A Fast-Gap system (trade mark of Extrusion Dies, Inc.) on a die extends the adjustment range, and eliminates the parting line of a removable lower lip. This device provides an additional 5 mm of adjustment ( 2.5 mm), by simply turning a hex headed power screw on the end of the die. The operator can now also flex open the lip to clean it, and then close it back to the run position, saving time and reducing scrap. 

Any stoppages that last for too long a time can cause the product to cure in the equipment. This will, of course, result in time delays and additional expense. If fast-curing materials have been selected to reduce the cost of fixtures or reduce assembly line space, the problem will be compounded. If the dispensing process is manually operated, it may be worthwhile to install a time device to signal when equipment should be flushed clean after a stop.
