Butyl acetate acrylate

The main use of -butyraldehyde is the production of -butyl alcohol by hydrogenation. -Butyl alcohol is used for ester synthesis, especially butyl acetate, acrylate, and methacrylate, common solvents for coatings. [Pg.178]

Acrylic Acid Recovery. The process flow sheet (Fig. 3) shows equipment and conditions for the separations step. The acryUc acid is extracted from the absorber effluent with a solvent, such as butyl acetate, xylene, diisobutyl ketone, or mixtures, chosen for high selectivity for acryUc acid and low solubihty for water and by-products. The extraction is performed using 5—10 theoretical stages in a tower or centrifiigal extractor (46,61—65). [Pg.153]

Titanium—Vanadium Mixed Metal Alkoxides. Titanium—vanadium mixed metal alkoxides, VO(OTi(OR)2)2, are prepared by reaction of titanates, eg, TYZOR TBT, with vanadium acetate ia a high boiling hydrocarbon solvent. The by-product butyl acetate is distilled off to yield a product useful as a catalyst for polymeri2iag olefins, dienes, styrenics, vinyl chloride, acrylate esters, and epoxides (159,160). [Pg.151]

Some commercially important isobutyl derivatives include isobutyl acetate, employed as a replacement solvent for -butyl acetate zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDPP) lube oil additives isobutyl acrylate [106-62-8] and methacrylate [97-86-9] monomers isobutylamines and amino resins (qv). [Pg.358]

Ethyl acetate is used in production of acrylic plastics. Ethyl acetate and butyl acetate find wide usage as solvents for nitrocellulose and lacquers. Hthyl acetate is considered one of the least toxic of all industrial organic solvents. Buiyl acetate s chief industrial competitor is methyl isobutyJ ketone. Over lime, ethyl acetate and butyl acetate may suffer the same fate as methyl acetate, which hos been largely displaced by other solvents. [Pg.54]

The Step 1 product was dissolved in roughly 10 ml of n-butyl acetate and then treated with CuCl (0.0396 g) complexed with 108.8 pi of 1,1,4,7,10,10-hexamethyl-triethy-lenetetramine), 2 ml of methylethylketone, and 4 ml of methylmethacrylate. The mixture was then heated to 60°C for 24 hours, cooled, dissolved in THF to 20% solids, and filtered through alumina to remove residual catalyst. The product poly(methyl-methacrylate)-b-poly(butyl acrylate)-b-poly(methylmethacrylate) was isolated having molecular weight segments of 10,000/60,000/10,000 daltons, respectively. [Pg.12]

The separation of products is usually acconq>lished by first absorbing reactor-2 effluent into water, followed by extraction of the organics into a solvent such as butyl acetate, and distillation to recover the solvent, acrylic acid and acetic acid, and aqueous and organic wastes. However, if relatively high propylene and low steam concentrations in the feed are used, extraction can be dispensed with. In file interest of minimization of processing, this design will be enqiloyed, but it does require recycle. [Pg.1014]

In the homogeneous MMA polymerization with 1-32 (Y = CH3)/CuBr/L-9 (R = n-Pen), the rate increased in the order xylene < DMB < DPE,179 probably due to the differences in the dielectric constant and coordination ability of the solvents. With the homogeneous Ru-1 catalyst, the polymerization of MMA was faster in a polar solvent such as CPI2C12 than in toluene.159 A more detailed analysis on solvent effects was carried out by end-capping a polymer radical with hydroxyl-TEMPO, where the radical intermediate was generated from bromide macroinitiators via CuBr/L-4 catalyst.242 A polar solvent such as butyl acetate increases the radical-generation rate from poly(acrylate)s but not from polystyrene. On the other hand, no rate increase was found for both macroinitiators in DMF, which is... [Pg.477]

A copolymer of tributyltin acrylate and methyl methacrylate in butyl acetate was synthesised, and the effectiveness of this additive in protecting paints and varnishes against moulds and fungi was studied. 4 refs.
