Business, relationship between

If repetitive tolls are the norm for a client, a good way to screen candidate tollers is to make use of past experience. A satisfying business relationship between a toller and a client is a prelude to the continued use of a toller and the toller s continued desire to meet a good customer s needs. [Pg.20]

Scope-of-work contracts are generally the preliminary starting point in the formal business relationship between the vendor and the sponsor. These are focused on the technical aspects of the project and will contain sections that describe the deliverable from each party involved. [Pg.356]

Online auctions for business are an extension of supply chain applications of the Internet, by which firms seek parts and supplies from a large pool of potential business partners. The real-time interaction in these auctions differs significantly from contract-based supply relationships, which may be stable but often inefficient in terms of costs. A more flexible and responsive supply chain relationship is required as the manufacturing process itself becomes more flexible to meet changing demands in real time. Especially for digital products, the business relationship between suppliers and producers may be defined by the requirement for immediate delivery of needed components. [Pg.275]

This model did not encourage the development of relationships between companies. It encouraged the development of friendships or at least business relationships between the salespeople from the supplier and the purchasing people from the customer. Most of the other people in both organizations had little if aity contact with each other. To be an effective business tod, this model must change. Companies need to be involved with each other at maity deeper levels to reap the benefits of supply chain management. [Pg.6]

Throughout this book we have described the barriers to more effechve supply chains. We have also described many of the tools and techniques that address this barrier. For example. Section 3-7.2 describes a eollabo-ration effort called Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment, CPFR for short. CPFR requires a business relationship between partners and has taken root in the retail industry. Collaboration strives to better match demand and supply, improve inventory management practiees, and capitalize on new systems through sharing. CPFR is primarily a link between retailers and their manufacturer suppliers. However, it is expected that the CPFR concept will expand to other industries. [Pg.405]

The concept of justice, that is, the matter of giving each person what is due that person, is necessarily connected to the distribution of benefits and burdens, whatever they might be and however they are conceived. The relationship between computer use and power will turn on the moral concept of justice, especially distributive justice. As many business ethics textbooks... [Pg.718]

While working in a school and in the lawn maintenance business, Linda Angeles became severely ill. Although she knew that certain chemical exposures made her sick, she had no idea to what extent. It took her years to understand there was a relationship between chemicals and her chronic illness. In an effort to reclaim her health, she left an unhappy marriage and now lives alone in a trailer. [Pg.118]

An invariant captures a consistency rule about a required relationship between attributes. For example, at the business level, an instructor should never be assigned to a course unless qualified. For a given implementation, this means that certain combinations of stored data should never occur. An invariant representing a business rule, such as assign-Qualified, could look a lot more complex when expressed against an optimized implementation. For example, to efficiently find replacement instructors as availability changes, the... [Pg.97]

The collaborations rental support and stock keeping represent the overall business transactions our system is directly involved in. As we ve seen, we can refine them separately to individual actions, using event charts and so on to show the relationship between abstract and detailed collaborations. The more-detailed collaborations can be summarized as shown in Figure 5.9. [Pg.227]

It is important to be able to understand how each business goal relates to each system requirement and how each requirement relates to each facet of the design and ultimately each line of the code. Documenting the refinement relationships between these layers makes it easy to trace the impact of changes in the goals. [Pg.257]

To conclude, the 2-phase optimization results in lower average profits. In the real application, planners might also vary the subjective weights for the different scenarios or set alternative minimum profit levels. This way additional information on the robustness of the obtained solution and a better understanding of the complex relationships between volumes and values in a price-volatile commodity business could be gained. This approach can be further extended e.g. by defining a robustness measure to be optimized explicitly (Olieman/Hendrix 2005). [Pg.250]

Dr. Flinn Antimony would be exciting to many chemists. Antimony-121 is the Mossbauer isotope of antimony. The first work was done at Wayne State University, and recently there has been a good deal of work by Ruby and others at Argonne which should be appearing shortly. It seems that antimony is similar to tin in its relationship between isomer shift and the various compounds. It is better than tin in that the isomer shift is about five times larger so that precise measurements are possible. Thanks to Ruby s work, the changes with chemical environment are well understood. The AR/R situation is clear cut, but there are some difficulties in preparing a satisfactory source. The parent is tin-121 which is m de by neutron capture by tin-120. The reaction has one of the smallest cross-sections in existence—one can place the tin in a reactor for a year and not produce much even then. However, when a source is obtained, you are in business for a while. Its half-life is 25 years. [Pg.168]

New businesses inside existing companies start off with many advantages compared to newly founded independent enterprises. The biggest problem many new ventures face initially is getting stakeholders to believe in them they constantly must address the question, Why should I do business with you if you might not be around tomorrow In contrast, ventures inside established firms gain an umbrella benefit from the legitimacy, social capital, reputation, and brands of their parents. Typically, corporate ventures also inherit systems, routines, trusted relationships between employees, and financial stability from the enterprises that created them. [Pg.175]

Simple Interest The relationship between F and F is F = F( 1 -f- in). The interest is charged on the origins loan and not on the unpaid balance (Couper and Rader, 1986). The interest is paid at the end of each time interval. Although the simple interest concept still exists, it is seldom used in business. [Pg.23]

As soon as the electron was discovered, speculations about the relationship between the line spectra of atoms and the motions of the electrons were offered. The experimental spectroscopists were also busy organizing their data into empirically pleasing forms. In 1890 J. R. Rydberg produced an equation that unified all the known data for hydrogen and the alkalis (22). [Pg.95]

All these new service-oriented chemical business models require a close co-operation between the provider and the user of the chemical. Therefore, the potential of these business models has also to be seen in connection with the new EU Chemicals Policy (REACH), which will require a new relationship between provider and user and the conventional paradigm supplier here - customer there" will hardly be crowned with commercial success."... [Pg.215]

The applications lab should be the center of product information. It should be staffed with people who not only carry out these functions, but also communicate the results with customers. For this reason a close relationship between market development and the applications lab is absolutely essential for a meaningful, coordinated approach to the customers, for more often than not the period between market development s first call and repeat order business will span two to three years. [Pg.103]

Because the /-orbitals are fairly well shielded from the valence effects it might appear that a relationship between the Dq and Fr parameters could be calculated. However, it seems that the 4/-orbital wave functions are not known sufficiently well for this purpose, and Dq and Fr are to be treated as independent variables. This makes the interpretation of /-electron system properties, even in high symmetry, a much less straightforward business than for -systems. [Pg.224]

For the CRS system, we have identified seven core components. Our first task is to design their interfaces and the relationships between the interfaces. Figure 12.3 is the interface diagram of the CRS business layer. [Pg.72]
