Auxiliary process control allows external devices to be controlled during winding, allowing further automation. The winding pattern can turn simple devices on and off or activate smart devices that can interact with the winding process. Fiber tension can be controlled and varied automatically during winding. [Pg.388]

Important auxiliary equipment in a flotation plant includes feeder and controls, sampling and weighing devices, slurry pumps, filter and thickeners for dewatering solids, reagent storage and makeup equipment, and analytical devices for process control. [Pg.1817]

The above system of directly sensing a process stream without more is often not sufficiently accurate for process control so, robot titration is preferred in that case by means of for instance the microcomputerized (64K) Titro-Analyzer ADI 2015 (see Fig. 5.28) or its more flexible type ADI 2020 (handling even four sample streams) recently developed by Applikon Dependable Instruments20. These analyzers take a sample directly from process line(s), size it, run the complete analysis and transmit the calculated result(s) to process operation (or control) they allow for a wide range of analyses (potentiometric, amperometric and colorimetric) by means of titrations to a fixed end-point or to a full curve with either single or multiple equivalent points direct measurements with or without (standard) addition of auxiliary reagents can be presented in any units (pH, mV, temperature, etc.) required. [Pg.374]

If the program continues and additional reductions are desired, more expensive and more complex projects begin to emerge (Phase II). These are often associated with equipment modifications, process modifications and process control and may include the addition or adaptation of auxiliary equipment for simple source treatment, possibly for recycle. This phase usually has little immediate ROI, and more inclusive approaches to assessing the economics of the operation (estimating costs for waste handling, long-term liability, risk) are needed to justify the continued pollution-prevention operation. [Pg.7]

Research associated with the machine level has been concentrated in two subcategories the energy consumption of the machine for the work done processes and the energy requirement of the machine for auxiliary processes (e.g., cooling and control). [Pg.8]

It should be realized that the separator may not be used for long periods, and the process control instrumentation and auxiliaries must receive regular inspection, testing, and maintenance. [Pg.89]

This is employed where a process is well-known and an adequate mathematical model is available. If there is an auxiliary process variable which correlates well with any changes occurring in process dynamics, then the best values of the controller parameters can be related ahead of time to the value of the auxiliary variable. Consequently, by measuring the value of the auxiliary variable, the adaptation of the controller parameters can be scheduled (or programmed). [Pg.689]

Devices mounted on the control valve that interface various forms of input signals, monitor and transmit valve position, or modify valve response are valve control devices. In some applications, several auxiliary devices are used together on the same control valve. For example, mounted on the control valve, one may find a current-to-pressure transducer, a valve positioner, a volume booster relay, a solenoid valve, a trip valve, a limit switch, a process controller, and/or a stem position transmitter. Figure 8-80 shows a valve positioner mounted on tne yoke leg of a spring and diaphragm actuator. [Pg.84]

Machine process controls coordinate individual functions of the clamp, injection unit, ejector mechanism, and mold systems and accessories such as core pulls and unscrewing dies for threaded parts. The more advanced controls employ a feedback system (closed loop) to provide much tighter control over actual parameters vs. setpoints. High-level controls are capable of communicating with auxiliary equipment such as chillers, hopper loaders, mold temperature controllers, robots, etc., and displaying all machine parameters and conditions (Chapter 3)... [Pg.199]

A special class of acyclic diastereoselective reactions involves the use of chiral auxiliaries to control the absolute stereochemistry of nucleophilic additions at carbonyl centers. This process takes advantage of steric and/or electronic factors within the chiral adjuvant to promote nucleophilic addition from one face of the molecule, and thereby generate one predictable diastereomer. Removal of the auxiliary, in the best cases, generates enantiomerically pure products, as well as the recyclable chiral adjuvant. The end result of this process is the synthesis of enantiomerically pure products via diastereoselective reactions. [Pg.61]

Eliel has extensively studied the 1,3-oxathiane systems (55) as a chiral auxiliary to control the addition of organometallics to ketones (Scheme 3). Following nucleophilic addition, cleavage of the oxathiane group generates chiral a-hydroxycarbonyl compounds (58). The wide variety of carbonyl substituents, as well as Grignard reagents, amenable to this process is illustrated in Table 14. The enantiomeric auxiliary is available, and affords alcohols of opposite chirality in equivalent yields. [Pg.61]

Identification, purity testing and determination of the concentration of active ingredients, auxiliary substances and preservatives in drugs and drug preparations, process control in synthetic manufacturing processes. [Pg.3]
