Writing in the January 8,2007, issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, doctors at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore found that weight loss, whether through dieting, exercise, or even surgery, dramatically lowered inflammation as measured by C-reactive protein, commonly termed CRP. The more weight lost, the more substantial the CRP improvements. Dr. Elizabeth Selvin pointed out that fat cells are directly involved in the production of CRP and other inflammatory markers of heart disease risk. [Pg.58]
