Application method equipment

By selecting suitable descriptions for each aspect, an objective description of all feasible application methods (equipment and technique) is possible. This equipment and technique classification scheme outlined in Table 3.1 offers a taxonomy that would allow objective differentiation to be made between seemingly similar systems, based upon their measured performance judged against other comparable systems. [Pg.29]

A PWM switching power supply that is designed with no extraordinary loss-control methods will exliibit efficiencies as seen in Table 3-3. For switching power supplies that have no problem in getting rid of the heat, such as some off-line applications, the aforementioned efficiencies may be satisfactory. For portable applications and equipment that must be small in size much better efficiencies must be sought. To improve the overall efficiency of a power supply, several techniques can be used. [Pg.143]

Line Activities. It is often necessary to make a quick check of the rheological flow properties of a specific sample in an in-process production line application. The equipment used may be either in-line flow apparatus or other simple characterization methods. [Pg.178]

Note Bibliography item (2), Method 514.1, Vibration , specifies tests for equipment which may be used in a variety of military applications. The equipment is categorized according to the vehicle in which it will be installed or transported as follows (a) equipment installed in airplanes and helicopters (b) equipment... [Pg.255]

Comer et al. (2) therefore evaluated the effect of exposure to carbaryl (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate) on formulating plant workers and on workers applying carbaryl to fruit orchards with a tractor-drawn air-blast sprayer. However, information was still needed on the persistence of carbaryl in apple orchards and on the resultant exposure of workers who re-enter treated orchards. Further, no studies had been done on other types of crops. The present study was undertaken to determine the exposure of agricultural workers to carbaryl as a function of type of formulation, application equipment, application method, and type of work performed (i.e., mixer-loader, applicator, flagman, bystander, and apple thinners). [Pg.84]

Films. Both structural and nonstructural adhesives are commonly available in film form. Adhesives applied in the form of dry films offer a clean, hazard-free operation with minimum waste and excellent control of film thickness. However, the method is generally limited to parts with flat surfaces or simple curves. Optimum bond strength requires curing under heat and pressure, which may involve considerable equipment and floor space, particularly for large parts. Film material cost is high in comparison to liquids, but waste or material loss is the lowest of any application method. [Pg.409]

Read the label. The formulation, signal word, precautionary statements, personal protective equipment statements, the application method, and projected length of exposure indicate the personal protective equipment you need. [Pg.137]

Unfortunately, there is no simple and widely applicable method for determining the reliability of data with absolute certainty. Often, estimating the quality of experimented results reejuires as much effort as collecting the data. Reliability can be assessed in several wa vs. Experiments designed to reveal the presence of errors can be peiformed. Standards of known composition can be analyzed and the results compared with the known composition. A few minutes in the library to consult the chemical literature can be profitable. Calibrating equipment usually enhances the quality of data. Finally, statistical tests can be applied to the data. Because none of these options is perfect, we must ultimately make judgments as to the probable accuracy of our results. These judgments tend to become harsher and less optimistic with experience. The quality assurance of analytical methods and the ways to validate and report results are further discussed in Section 8D-3. [Pg.91]

Appropriate ingredients for the nitrogen component include ammonia gas itself, which contains 82.5% N, the highest feasible nitrogen content available in a commercially useful compound. But this source is restricted to specialized application methods. Ammonia solutions, which are essentially concentrated ammonium hydroxide of about 25% N, still require specialized equipment and can add only nitrogen. Urea (46.6% N) is also used, either as the neat solid or as an aqueous solution. [Pg.356]

The reality for the practitioner and equipment maintainer is that the decision regarding the use of oil or grease and the application method is made well before the equipment reaches the plant floor. Still, for many reasons, lubricant selection and the method of application need to be changed or adjusted to best achieve reliability objectives. [Pg.1512]

Use of application methods that can use relatively high-viscosity paints is advantageous. Appropriate methods include roller coating, special electrostatic spray equipment, hot-spray techniques, and two-nozzle spray guns. [Pg.695]
