The first motivation toward higher switching frequencies was to simply take the action beyond audible human hearing range. Reactive components are prone to creating sound pressure waves for various reasons. So, the early LC-based switching power supplies switched at around 15-20 kHz, and were therefore barely audible, if at all. [Pg.18]

When the arc welder or cutter has occasion to leave his/her work or stop work for any appreciable length of time, or when the arc welding or cutting machine is to be moved, open the power supply switch to the equipment. [Pg.933]

After 20-30 min, the resistance increases the power supply switches automatically to voltage limitation at 6 V. When the current has dropped to 0.2 A (after about 50-60 min do not proceed to lower currents or longer plating time) the plating should be stopped in one quick procedure add 1-2 mL of concentrated ammonia solution (25 %), immediately disconnect the plugs and add distilled water to the rim (while still in the fume hood CI2 evolution) and rinse the cell with ample distilled water. [Pg.383]

Power Supplies and Controls. Induction heating furnace loads rarely can be connected directiy to the user s electric power distribution system. If the load is to operate at the supply frequency, a transformer is used to provide the proper load voltage as weU as isolation from the supply system. Adjustment of the load voltage can be achieved by means of a tapped transformer or by use of a solid-state switch. The low power factor of an induction load can be corrected by installing a capacitor bank in the primary or secondary circuit. [Pg.127]

COMPRESSOR WILL NOT START 1. Power supply failure. 2. Switchgear or starting panel. 3. Low oil pressure shut down switch. 4. Controi panel. NOISE IN CYLINDER 1. Loose piston. 2. Piston hitting outer head or frame end of cylinder. 3. Loose crosshead lock nut. [Pg.323]

Ripple voltage (switching power supplies) This is measured in peak-to-peak volts, and its frequency and level should be acceptable to the load circuits. [Pg.6]

Power supplies, especially switching power supplies, require the designer to view parameters not commonly encountered in the other fields of electronics. Aside... [Pg.9]

A too MHz or higher bandwidth, time-based oscilloscope. The bandwidth is especially needed for switching power supply design. A digital oscilloscope may miss important transients on some of the key waveforms, so evaluate any digital oscilloscope carefully. [Pg.10]

An ac and/or dc current probe for the oscilloscope. Especially needed for switching power supply design. Some appropriate models are Tektronics P6021 or P6022 and A6302 or A6303, or better. [Pg.10]
