Catecholamine receptors are well estabUshed to be altered by a variety of homologous and heterologous influences (104). Thus, in hyperthyroidism, there is an increased level of sympathetic activity associated with increased expression of a- and P-adrenoceptors.

Functional Elements The activities associated with the management of solid wastes from the point of generation to final disposal have been grouped into the functional elements identified in Fig. 25-59. If the purpose of dmg regulation is to promote public health and protect the public from harmful and dubious dmgs, it should cover all products for which medicinal claims are made and all activities associated with the manufacture, importation, distribution, dispensing and promotion of dmgs. 

As noted already, intense submarine hydrothermal activity took place in the Japan Sea in 15-12 Ma, associated with Kuroko mineralization. If the cardiac redox state (reflected by fluctuations in the ratio of GSH and GSSG) is important in the regulation of the function of some enzymes, the manipulation of this ratio may result in parallel changes in enzyme activity. Thus, a reduction of Na/K ATPase activity associated with the application of 1 mM GSSG has been shown to be reversed and completely overcome, in a concentration-dependent manner, by the subsequent addition of GSH (O.l-l.OmM) (Haddock et al., 1991) (see Fig. 4.10).
