PEN film for audio- and videotape and various electronic appHcations and blow molded PEN containers for hot-fill appHcations are already being marketed in Japan. NDA is unlikely to ever become as inexpensive as terephthaUc acid but novel NDA-based polyesters will become available if a market need exists. One example could be the experimental polyester PBN (Celanese Corp.) this is the NDA analogue of PBT, poly(l,4-butylene naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate) [28779-82-0]. It has a high rate of crystallization, faster even than that of PBT, and its combination of physical properties is weU-suited for injection molding. 

Theatrical Pyrotechnics or Special Effects. Many spectacular visual and audible effects are produced for stage presentations of both music and drama, and many motion pictures and television shows incorporate pyrotechnic and explosive special effects to Hven up the presentation. These spectacular effects are a combination of pyrotechnics, explosives, combustion, and electronics. After the effects are filmed or videotaped, they are often enhanced by slow-motion replay and by the addition of more exciting noise. A real explosion is over in milliseconds, and hence there is a need for electronic enhancement to create a more spectacular effect on the screen. 

The unit was built in a loop because the needed 85 standard m /hour gas exceeded the laboratory capabilities. In addition, by controlling the recycle loop-to-makeup ratio, various quantities of product could be fed for the experiments. The adiabatic reactor was a 1.8 m long, 7.5 cm diameter stainless steel pipe (3 sch. 40 pipe) with thermocouples at every 5 centimeter distance. After a SS was reached at the desired condition, the bypass valve around the preheater was suddenly closed, forcing all the gas through the preheater. This generated a step change increase in the feed temperature that started the runaway. The 20 thermocouples were displayed on an oscilloscope to see the transient changes. This was also recorded on a videotape to play back later for detailed observation.

The same information could be provided in a letter to all employees, posted on local bulletin boards or mailed to employees homes. On a grander scale, senior management may address employees through a specially produced videotape, distributed to all locations. 

It is a good practice to try and predict what level of information is expected to be extracted from the data before conducting sessions relying on observation. For instance, problems posed by movement and interaction among individuals, and the inability of a video system to capture extremely detailed events, must all be considered in advance. If certain aspects of the task are videotaped, the recording process itself should be as unobtrusive as possible. The minimum requirement is that it does not get in the way. Also, some people may react negatively to being observed and recorded. For this reason, the workers should be briefed about the objectives of the observational study in advance. 

The gas composition at the outlet of the reactor was determined using gas chromatography. The selectivity of methane was almost 100%. We directly observed the fluidization behavior and photographed it using a video camera with recording onto a videotape. We also measured the expansion of the emulsion by the bed collapse method [10] during the reaction.

I trusted Marnie when I was her patient, and I still do. Two years after leaving New Jersey and moving to England, my wife and I wondered about the meaning of some medical test results we had obtained. We phoned Marnie to help us understand them, and even on the phone, with people who had not been her patients for more than two years, Marnie was forthcoming, patient and helpful. I only wish I could videotape the way in which she conducts her clinical sessions and have the DVD shown to all medical-school students.

If a null result ensues, subsequent replication of the experiment is one way to feel more confident that the results are reliable. Alternatively, the animals may be trained in a conditioned odour preference task as described below. This would enable the investigator to further understand why the subjects did not respond in the habituation-dishabituation task. Videotaping the results should also become standard practice. The results were analysed by a within-subjects analysis of variance for factors of trial (1,2,3) and odour type (almond, cKl, water). The data were normally distributed (Shapiro-Wilks tests). Planned contrasts compared each of the two odours with the control odour. Only significant results are reported. The results for each behaviour were analysed separately. Four of the trials were videotaped to enable intra-and inter-rater reliability to be assessed for the observations. There was 100% concordance for both intra- and inter-rater codings. 

A four-choice star maze, similar to that used by Kubie and Halpern (1978, 1979), was used as a two-choice Y maze for training the snakes. Snakes were trained to follow earthworm extract trails (IX = 6 gm earthworm per 20 ml dH20) in the apparatus until their performance exceeded chance behavior. (See Kubie and Halpern 1978 for details). At the termination of testing, snakes were videotaped during trailing at each earthworm concentration (IX, 1/9X, 1/8IX, Dry). Trials were repeated until a minimum of one minute of good, analyzable film had been obtained at each concentration. This usually involved one to three trials. For filming of animals from the side, a clear plastic maze of similar dimensions was used. 

Snakes were tested in a 1-L glass cylinder (the same used by Halpern et al. 1997). At the start of every test session, the snake was placed in the testing apparatus for 5 minutes to acclimate. The snake was videotaped for 1 minute before, 1 minute during, and 1 minute after odorant was delivered, with three-minute intervals between subjects and thirty minutes between odorants. The odors tested were distilled water, amyl acetate, lemon extract, earthworm extract, fish water, and live earthworms. The order of odorants delivered was not randomized. 

A square field (80 x 80 cm), with a milk-glass floor, marked off in 5 cm squares, opaque walls and a clear Plexiglas top was used. Snakes were placed in an open-ended cylinder and placed in the middle of the apparatus and the snake was allowed 1 minute to adapt. The cylinder was lifted and the snake was allowed to explore the apparatus for one minute during which tongue-flicks were videotaped. No prey or prey odor was ever placed in this apparatus. 

Planned Sarin Attack at Disneyland, California — In April 1995, The Baltimore Sun reported that a planned gas attack on Disneyland had been uncovered. Two Japanese men affiliated with Aum Shinri Kyo were in possession of instructions for making sarin and a videotape detailing an attack on Disneyland they were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport. 

Regarding schools, immediately after teachers are trained on the emergency preparedness plan, they should train students on how to correctly respond to the various types of alarm systems (e.g., fire, radiation, and chemical) in the building. Teachers should use cassette tapes, compact discs, or videotapes to allow the students to hear the differences in the sounds of the various types of alarms. 

In the electric power industry, open sources of information—such as product data and educational videotapes from engineering associations—can be used to understand the basics of the electrical grid. Other publicly available information—including filings of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), industry publications, maps, and material available on the Internet—is sufficient to allow someone to identify the most heavily loaded transmission lines and the most critical substations in the power grid. 

In the first study to report on this, Smith and Lewis (1985) prepared a videotape of 4 episodes of real fighting interspersed with 16 episodes of playful fighting (as judged by the researchers). They played this to 8 preschool children aged 4 years, and asked them whether each episode was playful or really fighting, and how they could tell. Six of the children showed considerable consistency in their judgments some were unable to give...
