The facility costs are based on the concept of a mobile remote repair facility. The advantages of this concept are low-cost, minimal shielding requirements, and flexible use of the overall repair facility. The main components for a remote repair are the electron accelerator, the power supply, and the robotic control system including the remote video system. Table 14 shows the estimated costs for these main components. [Pg.1034]

The cost of the vehicle to move the accelerator, and temporary shielding, if needed, have not been included in Table 14. The vehicle houses the control console, video system, and robotic controls. A trailer would carry the main robotic system, the electronic accelerator, magnetron, and the supplies. The cost for such a vehicle and trailer is estimated at 100,000. [Pg.1034]

It is a good practice to try and predict what level of information is expected to be extracted from the data before conducting sessions relying on observation. For instance, problems posed by movement and interaction among individuals, and the inability of a video system to capture extremely detailed events, must all be considered in advance. If certain aspects of the task are videotaped, the recording process itself should be as unobtrusive as possible. The minimum requirement is that it does not get in the way. Also, some people may react negatively to being observed and recorded. For this reason, the workers should be briefed about the objectives of the observational study in advance. [Pg.156]

Similarly, we could model a video store as one large-grained object—an external view or we could describe internal roles and interactions, such as the store clerk, the stockkeeper, the manager, and the video system—an internal view. We illustrate two levels of action abstraction in this chapter the object granularity will be refined later, when we define the system context and user roles. [Pg.591]

Table III is a summary presentation of the CCD image sensor products of various companies in Japan, while Figure 8 shows the change in numbers of elements for photo-electric transducers. In the background of this change there was a great improvement in the clarity of pictures in home video systems (the photo-sensor for surface recognition of course was not developed exclusively for these measurements but was adapted from the general type). Most limitations, however, concern the investigation of the swelling behavior. Anisotropic materials do not swell evenly in all directions. For such solids, several particles must be placed randomly in the view cell to ensure that, statistically, every possible orientation is recorded by the video system. Even then, the difficulty remains to correctly describe volumetric effects on the basis of two-dimensional video images, a problem that will be discussed more thoroughly in... [Pg.549]

Flow profdes of electroosmosis in open-tubular capillary and packed capillary columns were observed by using a microscope-CCD-video system and a rectangular capillary (50 x 1000 pm) or rectangular capillary column or fused-silica capillary (75 pm in diameter) [8,9]. Rhodamine/methanol solution was used as a fluorescent sample solution [8-11]. [Pg.212]
