Useful Books

To keep this book to a convenient size, and bearing in mind that its most likely users will be laboratory-trained, we have omitted manipulative details with which they can be assumed to be familiar, and also detailed theoretical discussion. Both are readily available elsewhere, for example in Vogel s very useful book Practical Organic Chemistry (Longmans, London, 3rd ed., 1956), or Fieser s Experiments in Organic Chemistry (Heath, Boston, 3rd ed, 1957). [Pg.623]

I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to contribute a Foreword to this very useful book. It is a particular pleasure for me to do so because all the editors and fifteen of the authors are alumni of my research group at Harvard, where molecular dynamics simulations of biomolecules originated. [Pg.517]

Last year saw the publication of an extremely useful book on synthetic techniques applicable to both inorganic and organometallic chemistry. [Pg.454]

Cook, R., Chocolate Production and Use, Books for Industry, New York. 1972, chap. 3-4. [Pg.197]

In recent years pharmaceutical scientists have participated in lively discussions about how present methods of bioequivalency determination might legitimately and advantageously be modified. For example, the question of whether it is necessary to always take plasma samples so that AUC at the end of the test is at least 90% of AUC at time infinity has been explored [7,8], Statistical aspects of this and other possible methods of modifying protocol design are covered in a most useful book published in 1999 and in several papers [8-10,22],... [Pg.754]

Useful books from the Oxford University Press primer series include Foundations of Spectroscopy, by Simon Duckett and Bruce Gilbert, OUP, Oxford, 2000 Introduction to Organic Spectroscopy, by Laurence M. Harwood and Timothy D. W. Claridge, OUP, Oxford, 1997 and Energy Levels in Atoms and Molecules, by W. G. Richards OUP, Oxford, 1996. Each, particularly the last, represents a clear and lucid introduction. [Pg.558]

There are many reviews on specific MS or ionization techniques that will be referenced in the following sections, but electrospray is one of the newest ionization methods that are fast becoming an important technique in inorganic and organometallic chemistry. A review (17) on electrospray applied to inorganic and organometallic chemistry appeared in 1995 and the rapid growth of this area probably warranted another review (18). A useful book entitled Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry, Fundamentals, Instrumentation, and Applications has... [Pg.347]

Doctors Cross and Plunkett are to be congratulated on preparing such a clear and useful book - I shall be recommending it to others. [Pg.263]

S. Che, Z. Liu, T.Ohsuna, K. Sakmoto, O. Terasaki T. Tatsumi. Nature 429, p.281 (2004). A list of useful books, software, conferences and research groups in electron crystallography is given on the lUCr web page link http //www.public.asu.edu/ jspence/ElectmDiffh.html... [Pg.42]

But Sasha was by no means mad he was just a free spirit, not particularly concerned with appearances as long as he could synthesize and study his family of intriguing psychochemicals. He and his wife proved to be most generous friends. Sasha has lent or given me several useful books and articles in the past few years on subjects relating to LSD and other psychedelic drugs. He recently provided me with a great deal of difficult-to-find information that has helped in the preparation of this book. [Pg.242]

There is a lot of literature about statistics and especially for analytical chemists. As an example two useful books and training software are recommended here for further details about statistical tools for analytical chemists. [Pg.181]

In some of the older American literature, such as the venerable and still useful books by Wendell M. Latimer,9 the reverse convention (oxidation potentials) was used the electrons appear on the right, and the sign of E° is reversed. [Pg.287]

Like the currently popular area, called nanoscience , the field of supramolecular chemistry has rather hazy boundaries. Indeed, both areas now share much common ground in terms of the types of systems that are considered. From the beginning, electrochemistry, which provides a powerful complement to spectroscopic techniques, has played an important role in characterizing such systems and this very useful book goes considerably beyond the volume on this same topic by Kaifer and Gomez-Kaifer that was published about 10 years ago. Some of the classic supramolecular chemistry topics such as rotaxanes, catenanes, host-guest interactions, dendrimers, and self-assembled monolayers remain, but now with important extensions into the realms of fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and biomolecules, like DNA. [Pg.627]

Each is briefly discnssed below, bnt readers desiring a compact, yet thorough introduction to the topics should refer to Tracy s useful book (Tracy, 1999). [Pg.181]

The second Edition of this useful book describes almost 2900 surfactants which are currently available for industrial use. The book will be of value to technical and managerial personnel involved in the specification and use of these products. The information has been developed directly from information received from 46 surfactant suppliers. [Pg.283]

V. Meyer, Pitfalls and Errors of HPLC in Pictures (1998), John Wiley Sons (New York). A useful book for the beginner. [Pg.109]

G. Chase andj. Rabinowitz, Principles of Radioisotope Methodology, 3rd ed. (1967), Burgess (Minneapolis), pp. 75-108. Although somewhat outdated, this is still a useful book. [Pg.187]

Peters and Timmerhaus (Ref. CE9) was the most used book in this category. It explains the ratio method and factored cost method of capital cost estimation. It also contains nomographs and correlations so that many plant equipment items can be costed. There are tables of typical values for costs such as insurance, depreciation and engineering. [Pg.32]

Ottone Imer shared chambers with several other attorneys in the maze of alleys in San Zulian, just north of the Basilica of San Marco. That the house included living quarters and premises grand enough to entertain thirty guests I took on trust from the Maestro s account. It is an expensive part of town, so either Imer had family money behind him or he was successful professionally. So why was he dabbling in the used book trade ... [Pg.35]

Imer s face shone red with fury. He was a curiously bad actor for a man who must impress panels of hard-bitten judges for a living. Perhaps that was why he had gone into the used book trade. I do not know. You were there also, so why don t you know Senator Tirali took over, you will recall. He orderedme to go and fetch a litter I sent a man to find one and then tried to calm the ladies, some of whom were very upset. Orseolo was taken home and everyone left. ... [Pg.38]

Research on flow cytometry of microorganisms is reviewed in Chapter 29 of Melamed et al. and in Section XI in Darzynkiewicz. Microbiological methods are described in Section 11 of Current Protocols in Cytometry. A useful book edited by D Lloyd (1993) is Flow Cytometry in Microbiology (Springer-Verlag, London). [Pg.224]

Ormerod MG, ed. (2000). Flow Cytometry A Practical Approach. Oxford University Press, Oxford. A useful book with discussion of flow theory but with an emphasis on practical aspects of flow cytometry and technical protocols. [Pg.230]

Purchasers of used books are not eligible to register. Use of the CD-ROM is subject to the terms of the end user license agreement. See www.plunkettresearch.com/cd license.htm. [Pg.3]
