Twill

For non-Newtonian fluids in slow flow, friclion loss across a square-woven or fuU-twill-woven screen can be estimated by considering the screen as a set of parallel tubes, each of diameter equal to the average minimal opening between achacent wires, and length twice the diameter, without entrance effects (Carley and Smith, Polym. Eng. Set., 18, 408-415 [1978]). For screen stacks, the losses of individual screens should be summed. [Pg.646]

Fabrics of Woven Fibers For cake filtratiou these fabrics are the most common type of medium. A wide variety of materials are available some popular examples are listed in Table 18-10, with ratings for chemical and temperature resistance. In addition to the mate-ri of the fibers, a number of construction characteristics describe the filter cloth (1) weave, (2) style number, (3) weight, (4) count, (5) ply, and (6) yarn number. Of the many types of weaves available, only four are extensively used as filter media plain (square) weave, twill, chain weave, and satin. [Pg.1706]

Indicate, if known, preferred bag material that will withstand environment, e.g., fibers of glass, polyester, Teflon , Nomex , polypropylene, polyethylene, cotton, wool, nylon, Orion , Dacron , and Dynel . The type of weave of fiber should be recommended by the manufacturer. The fabrics may be felted or woven [47,48] in weaves of plain, satin, or twill, and should be resistant to any corrosive material in the solid particles or the gas stream. [Pg.273]

You twill find as you get further involved with hplc that there is a bewildering Zariety of microparticulate packings available in the trade literature. The textbook by Hamilton and Sewell (second Edition, Chapter 4) has an extensive list, as do most other textbooks. To keep things in perspective, remember that almost all the work in... [Pg.85]

Reilly (Ref 1) describes a gray mixt made by mixing 7 parts of meal powder with 100 parts of sulfur, and is mostly used for the manuf of fire balls (used in war). These consist of twill bags, charged with compressed gray mixture, which is filled into them with the aid of spirit they are fired by means of a composition fuse. Gray mixture mixed with antimony sulfide is used for torches. [Pg.410]

The effects of type of vinyl monomer on the properties of copolymer fabrics are shown in Table VII. Two different fabric constructions, print cloth and twill, were used. After the copolymer fabrics were prepared, they were given the usual treatment with dimethyloldihydroxyethylene urea to crosslink the cellulose. The wash-wear appearance ratings, flat abrasion resistances, and, in most cases, wrinkle-recovery angles of copolymer twill fabrics were improved over fabric controls. For copolymer... [Pg.344]

With a few exceptions, sulfur dyes [1] are employed to dye cellulosic fibers. The main applications are the dyeing of corduroy, velveteen, denim articles, twill work clothes, tarpaulins, and backpack fabrics. The dyeing of the cellulosic fiber component of blended fabrics (polyester/cotton blends above all) is increasingly important. [Pg.215]

Grootenhuis (Proc. Inst. Mech. Eng. [London], A168, 837—846 [1954]) presents data which indicate that for a series of screens, the total pressure drop equals the number of screens times the pressure drop for one screen, and is not affected by the spacing between screens or their orientation with respect to one another, and presents a correlation for frictional losses across plain square-mesh screens and sintered gauzes. Armour and Cannon (AIChE J., 14,415-420 [1968]) give a correlation based on a packed bed model for plain, twill, and dutch weaves. For losses through monofilament fabrics see Pedersen (Filtr. Sep., 11, 586-589 [1975]). For screens Inclined at an angle 0, use the normal velocity component V ... [Pg.20]

Emulsifiable concentrate formulation of Triallate, diluted to field strength concentration (1.8% a.i.), was used to contaminate cotton twill fabric. The best laundry procedure is to pretreat the work clothing with a pre-wash commercial soil and stain remover containing a blend of surfactants and solvents, launder in hot water (60°C), and then launder a second time. Approximately 18% of the pesticide remains in the fabric using the above procedure after a single wash when no pretreatment and warm water (50°C) were used, as much as 48% of the Triallate remained. [Pg.623]
