Training vehicle operator

The aim of the experimental tests performed on the overall power train is the evaluation of efficiency and the individuation of the basic energy management strategies necessary to assure proper vehicle operation. The experimental investigation is performed in dynamic conditions on two different urban driving cycles, the R47 and R40, considered by the European regulations on vehicle emission control. In Fig. 6.21a and b, the two cycles are reported in terms of motor speed versus time. 

In conclusion, many development challenges exist and have to be overcome to realize the potential of fuel cell-based power trains for automotive application under the conditions of daily vehicle operation. In particular, new materials have to be developed for improved component performance at lower cost. In addition the performance of advanced power trains based on internal combustion engines is a moving target, as here also further advancements with respect to efficiency are technically possible and probable.

Use the worksite as a training ground if possible. Dress as a worker with high-visibility garments and/or special equipment (i.e., radio, hard hat mounted mirror, and motion detectors). Weather—Inclement conditions such as rain, snow, sleet, fog, tornadoes, and other severe weather can slow or halt vehicle operation. Your vehicle operators should be constantly aware of changing weather conditions and be trained in survival in case they are stranded or involved in an accident. 

Drivers must, by virtue of training or experience, be able to safely operate the vehicle assigned to them. If the driver does not have experience, the company will need to be able to show that the driver was somehow trained to operate safely. What records Drivers must have a valid motor vehicle operator s license. Specific training documentation is not required... 

Your letter lists four subjects included in the lUOE Locai s PIT training, and you ask if construction employers are required to provide any additional training for employees. Your list did not include training in the standard itself, as required in 1910.178(l)(3)(iii). In addition, employers may need to ensure that additional training on site-specific or truck-specific matters is provided. One such example might be instruction on the safe operation of trucks with specialized attachments so that the operator understands the restrictions and limitations of the vehicle with those attachments. However, if the employee already has been trained to operate with those attachments, then the employer need not duplicate that training.

Each of the different t)rpes of powered industrial trucks has it own unique characteristics and some inherent hazards. To be most effective, operator training must address these unique characteristics of the type of vehicles the emplcyee is being trained to operate.
