Emergency training

In a hot gas expander, the major problems associated with catalyst fines are centered on erosion of components and particulate plugging. Either problem can cause machine vibration and sometimes power train emergency shutdown. Because many failures have resulted from these factors, machinery manufacturers recommend that the maximum permissible solids concentration upstream of an expander not exceed 200 ppm. It is further stipulated that 97% of the particles be smaller than 10 p. Allowing concentrations of 160 ppm with 95% of the particle less than 10 p is considered reasonable. [Pg.468]

Does the patient have an adequate airway and ventilation (hemoglobin saturation greater than 92%) If not, trained emergency personnel should consider performing tracheal intubation with initiation of mechanical ventilation. [Pg.206]

This trend makes it likely that tutu re tenor attacks will indude nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons. An educated public and properly trained emergency responders can significantly reduce the risks from this new and devastating threat to the free world. [Pg.3]

Equipment used during emergency response should have operating procedures that are utilized for training emergency responders. Equipment manufacturers and sales companies are often excellent sources for these procedures. However, the nature of a particular facility, the processes, or the range of potential credible emergency situations expected often requires additional procedures that address the proper and safe use of the equipment in site-specific situations. [Pg.374]

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and Paramedics (EMT-Ps) - Trained emergency medical respondents (both paramedics and EMTs are trained to diagnose and treat most common medical emergencies in the field and to provide medical treatment while en route to the hospital paramedics are more highly trained than EMTs). [Pg.609]

There should be written procedures for performance monitoring, change control, programme and data security, calibration and maintenance, persotmel training, emergency recovery and periodic re-evaluation. [Pg.141]

Recommendation 6-6. The PMACWA should consider incorporating the good industrial practice of having trained emergency response personnel at BGCAPP and PCAPP available around the clock to respond to transportation accidents. [Pg.68]

Training. Emergency exercises and the development of a database of operational scenarios provide the best means for honing the toolkit expert s understanding of the applicability of models. [Pg.86]

Agencies involved in these training effort are (1) FEMA, providing grants to states, training emergency response, and coordinating delivery of federal counterterrorism (2) the EPA, whose missions in terrorist attacks are to coordinate personnel and equipment to respond to hazardous substances, to monitor and to assess the health and environmental impacts to plan for control, restoration, and disposal of hazardous materials, and to train federal, state, and local response personnel and other... [Pg.170]

The instructions will provide guidance to a trained emergency response team. [Pg.22]

Postincident response may affect impact of the event. For example, a well-trained emergency response team can remove injured persons from the area and get them to hospital quickly, thus reducing the ultimate severity of the injuries sustained. Similarly, a well-trained operator will know how to shut down other units in the facility in a safe and controlled manner, thus avoiding a follow-on fire or chemical release. [Pg.486]

In practice, most operators are highly trained and will have a much better response rate than that described above. Nevertheless, it is best not to rely on human response during an emergency if at all possible. The operator should initiate an automatic shutdown, then remove himself from the area of the incident if at all possible. If the incident becomes increasingly out of control the trained operator should be supported by a trained emergency response team. [Pg.654]

For the loss of containment scenario, the team shall identify all major process unit incidents over the last 10 years and determine the minimum staffing required to shutdown the process unit in the limiting case. When evaluating these loss of containment scenarios, it is noted that the facility response should be per the HAZWOPER standard and the process unit emergency response plan. It should be recognized that trained emergency responders will aid in securing the facility as directed by process unit personnel. [Pg.234]

A Troubleshooting Guide is needed. The instructions can be quite lengthy, discursive, and complex, if necessary. The instructions can be reasonably detailed, and they can offer options. However, they must be unambiguous. The instructions must be short in number, simple, and easy to execute. The instructions will provide guidance to a trained emergency response team. [Pg.32]

Inhalation. Remove personnel from exposure and administer oxygen if chest symptoms occur. Airway obstruction, as indicated by the presence of laryngeal stridor, may require the placement of an airway by trained emergency medical technicians. Chest symptoms may be treated by responding emergency medical technicians by the administration of anticholinergic inhalants (such as Attrovent) and bronchodila-tors (such as Albuterol). [Pg.277]
