Tote bins

Polyacrylamide powders are typically shipped in moisture-resistant bags or fiber packs. Emulsion and solution polymers are sold in dmms, tote bins, tank tmcks, and tank cars. The transportation of dry and solution products is not regulated in the United States by the Department of Transportation, but emulsions require a DOT NA 1693 label. 

Liquid polyalurninum chloride is acidic and corrosive to common metals. Suitable materials for constmction of storage and handling facilities include synthetic mbber-lined steel, corrosion resistant fiber glass reinforced plastics (FRP), ceramics, tetrafluoroethylene polymer (PTFE), poly(vinyhdene fluoride) (PVDF), polyethylene, polypropylene, and poly(vinyl chloride) (PVG). Suitable shipping containers include mbber-lined tank tmcks and rail cars for bulk shipment and plastic-lined or aH-plastic dmms and tote bins for smaller quantities. Except for aluminum chlorohydrates, PAG products are shipped as hazardous substances because of their acidity. 

Calcium carbide is classed as a ha2ardous chemical under Department of Transportation regulations. Domestic shipments are mainly in steel tote bins varying in capacity from 2.5—4.5 t. A small amount continues to be shipped in industrial wide mouth steel dmms of 270 kg capacity. Containers must be marked "Flammable soHd, dangerous when wet" and have the United Nations designation UN 1402. 

In-plant transfer in speeially designed eontainers, e.g. tote bins, eoiTosion-resistant eontainers, with provision for meehanieal lifting. 

A wide variety of containers of differing capacity and design are used for solids transport, i.e. fibreboard, metal, resin-lined metal, plastic drums plastic, paper or hessian sacks tote bins bulk tanker lorry-load. The material may then be stored in the containers as received, in hoppers or silos, or simply in piles depending upon its properties and value.

The transfer of wet solid material from centrifuges or nutsches to dryers should occur either via dedicated transfer pipes or via a solid material tote bin system.

Semiclosed systems for handling solids often involve the use of big bags or tote bins. In these systems the solid is shipped in alarge (>1 t) container which is then lifted into place over a closed hopper or feed mechanism and a sealed connection is made. It is sometimes necessary to rap or agitate the big container to keep the solid moving and this action can result in deterioration or damage to the container or seals with consequent leaks. Also, there is some release of solids when containers are connected or disconnected as well as opportunities for dust generation. 

Many users of large amounts of water treatment chemicals have product supplied in either semi-bulk or bulk containers (tanker trucks). Semi-bulk usually means the supply of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) or tote bins. These are reusable, stackable containers, holding 120 to 330 gal. (450 to 1250 1). One ton semi-bulks are very common. They are available in a variety of construction materials and configurations. The customer may hold two IBCs on-site for every product employed, with one IBC being exchanged as soon as it becomes empty. Alternatively, the IBC may be used to supply small day tanks.

Recycling this is discussed extensively in the CER. Examples include the use of reusable tote bins, waste heat recovery from cooling water for building heating, and the recovery of silicon and silicon carbide from cutting wastes. 

In the sizzling sixties which lie ahead, we will see a vast improvement in the type of railroad cars. Tremendous progress has been made in the past decade, and railroads will keep pace with the equipment needs of our dynamic, ever-expanding chemical industry. In recent years we have seen improved covered hopper cars, Damage-Free cars, Tote Bin cars, Truck-Trailer cars, and many others. 

Blends of PCTG with PC or SMA show good clarity, good impact and chemical resistance and excellent forming characteristics. The material is formed by injection molding and extrusion and is used for business machines and appliance parts, vertical body panels for cars, trays and tote bins, lawn equipment housings.
