Testing software phases

Software testing is divided into three parts component test, component integration test and sub-system test. All phases have their own test approach and will identify different sets of defects. The component test focuses on the specific component, the integration test focuses on the interaction between several components, and the sub-system test looks at the provided functions. Overlap should be kept to a minimum. [Pg.173]

Thus, the size of the relief deviee is signifieantly smaller than for two-phase flow. Sizing for all vapor relief will undoubtedly give an ineorreet result, and the reaetor would be severely tested during this runaway oeeurrenee. Table 12-7 gives the results of the VENT software program of Example 12-4. [Pg.1006]

The testing phase is important in expert system development. The practical applicability of the expert system will largely depend on this phase. Testing expert systems is different from normal software engineering in a number of ways. First, it is difficult to test exhaustively the full code and all possible paths the reasoning process may follow. Secondly, the nature of expert systems poses some typical problems. Due to their heuristic nature the correctness of the results cannot be easily verified. A certain degree of errors may be acceptable and, moreover, an... [Pg.644]

This is a critical phase. Testing includes demonstration of compliance with all software specifications and production of evidence that attests to the fact that defects which may lead to errors or problems have been identified, remedied, or removed. [Pg.1057]

Since the proof-of-principle test, considerable improvements to the BWA monitoring method hardware and software were made by Hamilton Sund-strand Sensor Systems, and they are now being incorporated into LRIP units for the final phase of BWA method work. The BWA monitoring method and... [Pg.84]

Deployment It is in this phase that the business or domain makes its transition to the to-be model, adopting new processes, hardware, and software. It involves things such as software and hardware installation, tools to upgrade or migrate to new releases, documentation, acceptance testing, and user and administrator training. Note that user docu-... [Pg.548]

Peak purity tests are used to demonstrate that an observed chromatographic peak is attributable to a single component. Mass spectrometry is the most sensitive and accurate technique to use for peak purity evaluation because of the specific information derived from the analysis. However, a good number of HPLC methods use mobile phase conditions that are incompatible with mass spectrometry detection. In this case, PDA spectrophotometers using peak purity algorithms may be used to support the specificity of the method. Almost all commercially available diode array detectors are equipped with proprietary software that will perform these calculations. Although this technique is more universal in application to HPLC methods, the data provided is neither particularly... [Pg.200]

Even if improved hardware and/or software is feasible for the "generate" and/or "test" phases of structure elucidation, it would appear that improvements in the first phase for derivation of structure information could substantially reduce the effort required for these latter two phases, and similarly increase the proportion of unknowns for which the interpreter can derive a satisfactory answer only aided by STIRS. (The availability of infrared absorption data from GC/IR/MS would be particularly helpful.)... [Pg.125]

The testing of PLC software and hardware is in a number of different phases during the life cycle of the project and is designed to achieve different things. [Pg.595]

Testing is condncted in several phases depending on the complexity of the software design. The snpplier shall be responsible for developing modnle, integration, factory, and site acceptance test specifications to demonstrate that the design has been fully and accurately implemented. [Pg.721]

During the OQ phase, tests should be conducted to verify that any wireless data solution employed in addition to hardwired networks meets the roaming and resilience criteria documented in its corresponding requirements specification. Central testing should be used in support of qualification wherever possible. However, should the OQ have been run centrally, it may be possible for the site OQ activity to be waived, provided that the software has not been locally modified and the central test enviromnent used has the same characteristics as the local site. [Pg.814]

Usability testing is important for any software project and done during the design phase. It is extremely important because Web applications are used by many different users with different skill sets and expectations. Typically user interface prototypes are developed and tested by all types of anticipated users. Easy navigation through screens and applications are most important for Web applications. There are a couple of more considerations specifically for Web applications ... [Pg.906]

Acceptance Criteria ANSI/IEEE (1983) The criteria that a software product must meet to successfully complete a test phase or to achieve delivery requirements. [Pg.941]

Ideally you would try to avoid upgrading multiple pieces of your environment at the same time, as in the worst case example above. Although multiple rounds of testing is resource intensive, it is much easier to determine the source of any problems and resolve them in a controlled environment. This is a point to be aware of when choosing clinical trial software Will the vendor support multiple versions of an operating system and database This will give you the time to test the worst case scenario in a two-phase approach. [Pg.559]
