In zeolite synthesis (ref. 2) an aqueous mixture containing a silicon source, an aluminum source, an alkali source (usually NaOH) is autoclaved and subjected to hydrothermal treatment. Hydrated Na-ions are then filling the pore system in the as-synthesized zeolite. In the case of relatively high Si/Al zeolites an organic template is required which is usually a tetraalkylammonium compound, applied as the bromide or the hydroxide. [Pg.204]

All steps—from changes in DNA template, sequence, and accessibility in chromatin to RNA stability—are subject to modulation and hence are potential control sites for eukaryotic gene regulation. [Pg.357]

Over the last few years the DCA and ACA compounds have been the subject of a number of interesting chemical developments including their use as templates in polymerisation 23,24), and as media for stereospecific chemical reactions 98 100). This work has been carried out on the orthorhombic systems and is therefore outside the scope of this review. [Pg.168]

From the observed correlation function the scattering pattern is obtained by Fourier transformation. As Eq. (2.31) is subjected to the Fourier transform, it will only act on the correlation function of the template because hu (a) is no function of r. With Eq. (2.29) we obtain the expected result... [Pg.37]

Nucleic acids, DNA and RNA, are attractive biopolymers that can be used for biomedical applications [175,176], nanostructure fabrication [177,178], computing [179,180], and materials for electron-conduction [181,182]. Immobilization of DNA and RNA in well-defined nanostructures would be one of the most unique subjects in current nanotechnology. Unfortunately, a silica surface cannot usually adsorb duplex DNA in aqueous solution due to the electrostatic repulsion between the silica surface and polyanionic DNA. However, Fujiwara et al. recently found that duplex DNA in protonated phosphoric acid form can adsorb on mesoporous silicates, even in low-salt aqueous solution [183]. The DNA adsorption behavior depended much on the pore size of the mesoporous silica. Plausible models of DNA accommodation in mesopore silica channels are depicted in Figure 4.20. Inclusion of duplex DNA in mesoporous silicates with larger pores, around 3.8 nm diameter, would be accompanied by the formation of four water monolayers on the silica surface of the mesoporous inner channel (Figure 4.20A), where sufficient quantities of Si—OH groups remained after solvent extraction of the template (not by calcination). [Pg.134]

The SSZ-33 zeolite was synthesized using the template molecule derived from 8-keto tricycle [5.2.1.0] decane. The boron containing SSZ-33 was converted to Al-SSZ-33 by a one-step reflux in 1 M aluminum nitrate. The SSZ-35 zeolite was prepared with the template camphorquinone. SSZ-35 zeolite was then subjected to three-fold ion exchange in ammonium nitrate. [Pg.274]

Electrodeposition of metal onto structured objects, such as circuits, is controlled in part by a template. At the same time, the deposit must fill all the recesses uniformly and seamlessly, the texture and crystal structure must fall within tolerances, and the quality of the features must be sustained over a large workpiece. The distribution of material within recesses or onto widely separated portions of the workpiece is subject to a limited number of macroscopic control-parameters such as applied potential and plating bath composition. Success therefore depends on exploitation of the natural pathways of the process. The spontaneous and unconstrained development of structure must be taken into consideration in the production of highly organized and functional patterns. [Pg.152]

The ligand reaction step may occur either with the template metal still intact or may take place after removal of the metal ion from the ring. As already mentioned, many of the Schiff-base macrocycles are unstable in the absence of a coordinated metal ion. However, for such systems, it has often been possible to hydrogenate the coordinated imine functions directly. The resulting saturated ligands will not be subject to the hydrolytic degradation which occurs for the imine precursors in the absence of their metal ion. [Pg.48]

The cartridge was preconditioned with 0.5 mL toluene and each of the above benzodiazepine solutions passed through it. Analytes retained on the MIP were eluted with 0.5 mL of 15% acetic acid in acetonitrile. Internal standard (corresponding deuterated benzodiazepine) was added and subjected to LC/MS/MS. The results obtained for recovery, limit of detection (LOD), and quantitation (LOQ) are shown in Table 1.22. The binding capacity of diazepam to the templated MIP was found to be 110 ng/mg polymer. The same results were obtained for postmortem hair samples. [Pg.60]

The vehicle for a framework is a generic, or template, form of package. Inside the template, some types and their features can be defined using placeholder names. Looking at its definition in the library, we find that the Observation template has two type placeholders Subject and Observer we have imported that package, substituting Stock and Meter. The sustituted definition becomes part of the model. In other words, whatever attributes and operations are defined for Subject within the template s definition are now defined for Stock. Other names can be substituted, too. The template uses an attribute called value for the aspect of the Subject that we want observed so we substitute it for the Stock s level. [Pg.365]

Recall that every model can be regarded as a list of individual statements All the pictures can be translated into formal text. A template package is a collection of statements when it is applied, the statements (subject to substitutions) are added to the model. [Pg.404]

Aldonolactones are useful starting materials for the synthesis of modified sugars. They have also been used as chiral templates in synthesis of natural products. Some of them are inexpensive, commercially available products or they may be obtained readily from the respective monosaccharides. The purpose of this chapter is to survey the main reactions of aldonolactones. Previous reviews on the subject include articles on gulono-1,4-lactones (1) and D-ribonolactone (2). Methods of synthesis, conformational analysis, and biological properties are not discussed in this chapter. [Pg.125]

It is important to point out that if plating is terminated before solid Au nanowires are obtained, Au nanotubules that span the complete thickness of the template membrane are deposited within the pores. We have shown that these nanotubule membranes have interesting ion [71] and molecular [72] transport properties. This will be subject of the following section. [Pg.11]

Li+ intercalation material (V. M. Cepak and C. R. Martin, unpublished). These results, which will be the subject of a future paper, show that other synthetic methodologies, in addition to CVD, can be used to make micro-structured battery electrodes like those described here. In addition, the underlying microtubular current collector does not have to be Au. Microtubules composed of graphite [35] or other metals [1,3] (e.g., Ni) could be used. Finally, for the advantages noted above to be realized in practical cells, large-scale template-fabrication methods would have to be developed. [Pg.69]
