Work teams

Good conununication, interpersonal team work skills.

Special optical fibres have been intensively investigated during recent years because of their potential wide-range use for on-line monitoring of material properties or processes in a number of areas of human activity (environment protection, food industry, medicine etc.) Their technology can be considered an integral part of the team-work on optical fibre sensors development. Despite special optical fibres represent a unique and often indispensable tool for a variety of sensor applications, special fibre production still represents only a small fraction of the market. Probably it is because of their low consumption (in comparison with standard telecommunication fibres), the need for much more advanced know-how and lower reproducibility.

To enable development by distributed teams, work units must be separated and partitioned with clear dependencies, architectural conventions and rules must be explicit, and interfaces must be specified unambiguously. Components will get assembled by persons different from the developers, potentially long after they are built the relationships between the implementations, interface specifications, and eventual user requirements must be testable in a systematic way. 

At this stage, we mask, remove anything from the action specs that talks about the other participants in the actions. For example, we don t care about the state of the ATM user s pocket as long as the ATM dishes out the cash. In the spreadsheet example, we didn t say much about the user s state anyway. In an action involving two or more software components, the team working on each component would make its own version of the action spec that would define only its effect on the team s component.

CONSISTENT RESULTS - Similar teams working with similar information will be able to produce similar results, not overly influenced by team composition and individual team experience factors. 

Given the uncertainty of clinical research, one major asset of any CRS is flexibility. If this is combined with an aptitude for self-motivation, as well as team working, then the individual should be well qualified for the task.
