Subject index plasticizing

The library of the Department of Commerce has just issued a comprehensive index of publications of the Department of Commerce and all of its agencies 38). The index covers reports issued through October 1950 and it is planned to issue regular supplements in the future. This publication contains a subject index with Plastics as one of the subheadings. [Pg.156]

Nutrition Abstracts and Reviews (Bucksburn, Aberdeenshire, Commonwealth Bureau of Animal Nutrition, 1931-) RRP-Resins Rubbers Plastics (Institute of Polymer Research, Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn). This literature service consists of a monthly list of world polymer literature, and extensive abstracts, issued semi-monthly, with special reference to Eastern Europe and Japan. Published by Interscience, semi-annual subject indexes are issued Review of Current Literature on the Paint and Allied Industries (London, Chorley Pickersgill, 1927-)... [Pg.90]

Different terms are used when discussing the subject of designing with plastics. Many of them could be repeated in this book. To eliminate repeating the same definition the Appendix B TERMINOLOGY has been prepared. Where it is important to describe a term in the text, its definition is only used in the text. The INDEX includes the definitions in the text. [Pg.36]

These test procedures and standards are subject to change, so it is essential to keep up to date if one has to comply with them. It may be possible to obtain the latest issue on a specific test (such as a simple tensile test or a molecular weight test) by contacting the organization that issued it. For example, the ASTM issues new annual standards that include all changes. Their Annual Books of ASTM Standards contain more than seven thousand standards published in sixty-six volumes that include different materials and products. There are four volumes specifically on plastics 08.01-Plastics 1 08.02-Plastics 11 08.03-Plastics III, and 08.04-Plastic Pipe and Building Products. Other volumes include information on plastics and RPs. The complete ASTM index are listed under different categories for the different products, types of tests (by environment, chemical resistance, etc.), statistical analyses of different test data, and so on (56,128,129). [Pg.301]

In some fields the trade journals prepare and publish abstracts of pertinent information within the field including a certain amount of technical trade literature. At least one specialized abstracting service (the Summary of Current Literature a British publication devoted to the subjects of rubber and related fields including plastics) includes abstracts of appropriate technical data or information appearing in advertisements. The Industrial Arts Index and Chemical Abstracts will frequently report data appearing in trade journals and similar types of publications. [Pg.129]

The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) is a valuable source of information concerning plastics materials used in aircraft, such as transparent plastics, adhesives, and laminates of various types. Many reports on these materials are included in two comprehensive indexes (5, 4) of NACA technical publications. The reports are listed under subject headings, one of which is Plastics. To supplement the above, NACA Research Abstracts (5) is issued biweekly, listing reports on projects sponsored by... [Pg.153]

The Office of Alien Property of the Department of Justice has many available patents formerly owned by our former enemies and seized by the government during the war. Thousands of ideas for new materials, new processes, and new products are disclosed in these patents which are put into use under a liberal licensing program administered by the Office of Alien Property. These patents have been abstracted, classified, and indexed. A list of all of the subjects under which the patents have been classified is available (47), from which the complete set of abstracts for any subject may be ordered. One group of patents is listed under the heading of Plastics synthetic resins. Individual patents may then be selected from the abstracts and ordered from the Commissioner of Patents. [Pg.157]

Indexes to German Industrial Reports. The major portion of the German chemical industry was controlled by I. G. Farbenindustrie. Not only did FIAT members prepare indexes to some of the I. G. Farben material copied (18-21), but FIAT also copied I. G. Farbenindustrie s own extensive card index files, which include structure, trade name literature, and LG. Farbenindustrie report references, and cover such subjects as dyes, plastics, and organic chemicals. A list which includes the 45 PB reports comprising this series, and their prices, is available from OTS (17). [Pg.480]

Minerals often contain admixtures (such as free metals) which catalyze thermo-and/or photooxidation of the filled plastic. This subject will be considered in more detail in Chapter 15. Here we give just two examples of fading of CaCOs-fllled HDPE and polypropylene, with 76 and 80% w/w of the filler, respectively. The matrix had the melt flow index equal to 1 g/10 min (HDPE) and 8 g/10 min (polypropylene). Ashing of the both filled plastics at 525°C gave ash content of... [Pg.132]

The only small-scale methods that have stood the test of time and have been accepted as standard plasticity tests are the crucible swelling number, Gray-King coke type, dilatation characteristics, Gieseler plasticity, and, in some countries, the Rogas index. All of these are essentially empirical in nature and many are subjective, at least to some degree. [Pg.5]

High-load melt index n. (1) The rate of flow of a molten resin through an orifice 2.096 mm in diameter and 8.000 mm long at 190°C when subjected to a pressure difference of 2.982 MPa. Shah V (1998) Handbook of plastics testing technology. John Wiley and Sons, New York. [Pg.496]

The DODISS Index covers all subjects, not just plastics. It does not provide an alphabetical breakdown of aU key words used in the specification titles. The alphabetization is based solely on... [Pg.379]

The standards are published in both collective book form and in separate pamphlet form. The Annual Book of AS TM Standards is published yearly in 47 volumes called Parts , Standards can be located by subject or number from the Content Listings in the front of each book. Of interest are Parts 34 and 36, which deal with plastics, and Part 48, the index of all standards. Prices of each part vary. At present Parts 34,35,36, and 48 sell for 18.00, 31.00, 24.00 and 4.00, respectively. Individual standards in lots less than 50 may be purchased by coupon only. A five-coupon book is available at 6.00 and a 25-coupon book at 30.00. Orders should be directed to ASTM, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. [Pg.385]
