Summary. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) provides new possibilities to explore the link between the structure and the properties of thin oxide overlayers (passive films) formed electrochemically on well-defined metal surfaces. Passive oxide films protect many metals and alloys against corrosion. A better understanding of the growth mechanisms, the stability, and the degradation of passive films requires precise structural data. Recently, new results on the atomic structure of passive films have been obtained by STM. The important questions of crystallinity, epitaxy and the nature of defects have been addressed. Data on the structure of passive films on Ni, Cr, Fe, Al, and Fe-Cr alloys are reviewed with enq>hasis on atomically resolved structures. From a synthetic point of view, phosphinic peptides are densely functionalized structures with increasing degree of complexity, depending on the presence of additional functional groups on their side chains. Therefore, the synthesis of such molecules has been a research area of intense activity in both industry and academia for almost 30 years now. Among the several excellent reviews in the literature concerning phosphinic peptides, the prototype work of Yiotakis [19] and the more recent article by Mucha [20] have attempted a systematic approach to the synthetic aspects of these structures. The question of what influences variance in MEP performance is of obvious importance. From a network perspective, a crucial predictor of system performance is system structure. The ternary composites of graphene, CNTs and CPs are the solution of discussed problems in the present research field and future perspectives. Zhang et al. [93] reported composites of CNT, ethyl-vinyl-acetate and PANI with a 3D co-continuous phase structure having SC of 1105 Fg and excellent cycling performance over 45,000 cycles.
