Storage types

Early in the twentieth centui y over 150 different manufacturers were making storage tank, instantaneous, and solar water heaters. Then as indoor plumbing became more common and as people started using showers more and baths less, storage type water heaters became more popular. Accurate hot water temperatures were not possible in early instantaneous water heaters. This was not much of a prob-... [Pg.1214]

Storage type water heater tanks also have a drain valve at the bottom so the tank can be drained for maintenance, or in case it ever needs to be removed. These drain valves are often plastic, although higher quality models use a brass drain valve. [Pg.1216]

It is so universally applied that it may be found in combination with metal oxide cathodes (e.g., HgO, AgO, NiOOH, Mn02), with catalytically active oxygen electrodes, and with inert cathodes using aqueous halide or ferricyanide solutions as active materials ("zinc-flow" or "redox" batteries). The cell (battery) sizes vary from small button cells for hearing aids or watches up to kilowatt-hour modules for electric vehicles (electrotraction). Primary and storage batteries exist in all categories except that of flow-batteries, where only storage types are found. Acidic, neutral, and alkaline electrolytes are used as well. The (simplified) half-cell reaction for the zinc electrode is the same in all electrolytes ... [Pg.199]

Table 3 shows some physicochemical properties used as international GA quality parameters, for example moisture, total ash content, volatile matter and internal energy, with reference to gums taken from Acacia Senegal species in Sudan (FAO, 1990, Larson Bromley, 1991). The physicochemical properties of GA may vary depending on the origin and age of trees, the exudation time, the storage type, and climate. The moisture content facilitates the solubility of GA carbohydrate hydrophilic and hydrophobic proteins. The total ash content is used to determine the critical levels of foreign matter, insoluble matter in... [Pg.5]

The most common storage type is the direct discharge type (Figure 140). In this type the heat transfer fluid for the demand side is stored preferably at... [Pg.294]

Compliance with these requirements will be conditioned by the type of store and its area of influence. Clearly, monitoring techniques will be very different in stores on-shore and offshore, and within a storage type, geological, hydrological and even ecological characteristics will favour the implementation of a methodology or other. [Pg.96]

Vertical storage tanks are most commonly and uniquely used as dehydration vessels as well as desalting vessels for crude oil. The key variable for making a common storage-type tank into an oil dehydration vessel is simply time. Given enough time, most any oil-water mixture... [Pg.145]

This storage type of operation can produce signals at low light levels approximately 105 times larger than would nonstorage operation, in which each element in the equivalent circuit switches only when the beam scans the element in question. [Pg.77]

The storage cycle costs are estimated at 0.4-25 US kg (Padro and Putsche, 1999). If successful, such stores may also be considered for automotive applications, although the weight will be a problem except for some non-metal chemical or carbon storage types. Best current guesses are for a cost that is a few times higher than that of compressed storage containers. [Pg.356]

As you can see, at the bottom of the pyramid the storage types have the largest capacity but the slowest access times. Additionally, those types have the least expensive cost per megabyte. [Pg.166]

Type 3, the least common stmctural class of plant RIP, appears to reflect an unusual adaptation in enzyme production or storage. Type 3 RlPs are synthesized as inactive precursor molecules with... [Pg.427]

In addition to the compressor capital and variable costs, each type of compressed gas storage has other costs unique to that storage type. [Pg.187]

An auxiliary heat source can also be installed as an after-heater. The solar part of the system would thus become a preheater. Only when draw-off occurs would the solar-heated water flow into the after-heater, at whatever the temperature it is, and be brought up to the required temperature level. This after-heater may be a flow-through-type (instantaneous) or a storage-type device. Under favorable conditions it may not be called on to operate, but it would serve as a standby unit. Table II shows a classification of solar DHW systems according to seven attributes. [Pg.224]

The fifth to sixth generation of some concept cars is already under development for FCHVs in hydrogen operation and is produced in processes nearing series production, with a total of nearly 800 units built since 1994. Today, only polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs) are used with operating temperatures between 80 and 95 °C. The preferred storage type is compressed gas storage at 700bar. [Pg.18]
