Discharges, types

Despite their theoreticaUy poor washing performance, due to uneven wash distribution and excessive mn-off because the filter surface is not horizontal, many multicompartment dmm filters continue to be used as cake washing filters. Effective washing of the filter cloth can be done only with the belt discharge type, where the cloth leaves the dmm for a brief period and can thus be washed on both sides. 

There are, however, also similarities between the two discharge types. Positive ions drifting toward the opposite electrode form a space charge that affects the electric field and the corona current principally in the same way as in a negative corona discharge. Also, the charging of particles takes place almost in the same way for both types of corona discharge. 

The sample was analysed with a primary ion beam of extracted from an oxygen cold cathode discharge type source. A well-focussed 200 nA spot was attained at 4keV per molecular ion. The beam was scanned over a square of side 400 pm to produce a uniform primary beam current density and thus a flat-bottomed crater. In order to eliminate crater-edge effects, the counting system was only enabled when the centre of deflection of the beam was in a central area 125 x 125 pm. 

The simplest type similar to the tubular bowl machine type but with a smaller bowl length to diameter ratio (less than 0.75). The tubular bowl type is rarely used for solids concentrations above 1 per cent by volume. For concentrations between 1 to 15 per cent, any of the other three types can be used. Above 15 per cent, either the scroll discharge type or the batch type may be used, depending on whether continuous or intermittent operation is required.

Quite similar to direct discharge storages are slurry types (Figure 141). They differ from direct discharge types only because the heat transfer fluid also contains microencapsulated PCM. The micro encapsulated PCM increases the stored heat per volume of heat transfer fluid, which again has to be a fluid...

Manufacturing of olive oil is of fundamental economic importance for many Mediterranean countries (Tunisia, Italy, Greece, Spain. ..). However this process involves an intensive consumption of water and produces large amounts of Olive Mill Wastewater (OMW), that is released without any treatment into the aquatic environment causing deleterious environmental effects [1]. OMWs are a serious environmental and social problem in Mediterranean countries [2], due to the high pollutant load, seasonal discharge, type and quality of the pollutants and difficulties to find technically and economically favourable solution. 

Dioxin-like compounds are known to be one of the most harmful persistent organic pollutants of the chlorine based compounds. Dioxins are repeatedly synthesized and decomposed by complicated mechanisms and temperature changes at different locations in municipal solid waste incineration processes and the final streams discharged are commonly exhaust gas and incineration ash. Dioxins in different discharge types and compositions of effluents could be affected by incineration conditions such as temperature, feeding and discharging methods and incinerator type [47].

Pyrethroids can be classified as type I or type II depending on their effects on sensory neurons in American cockroaches. Type I compounds induce repetitive discharges in sensory neurons in vitro but not neurotransmitter release, so these processes are not related to the toxic action of pyrethroids. In contrast, type II pyrethroids, which typically contain the cyano group, do not induce repetitive discharges. Type II pyrethroids cause slow depolarization of nerve membrane, which reduces the amplitude of the action potential, leading to a loss of electrical excitability (Bloomquist, 1999). In addition, type I pyrethroids exhibit a negative temperature coefficient of toxicity, i.e., they are more toxic at low temperatures than at high temperatures, whereas type II pyrethroids exhibit a positive temperature coefficient of toxicity (Corbett et al., 1984 Matsumura, 1985). 

The impellers used in this study are shown in Figure 1. They are both of the radially discharging type which is characterized by a strong radial jet of fluid that moves out to the vessel walls while entraining fluid from above and below. Near the wall it splits into two circulation zones.
