Inside Liquid Storage a location inside a building that is segregated by either physical barriers or a distance approved by a Fire Protection Engineer and is used to store any liquid chemical except those that are classified as being low hazard (see definition) a room or building used for the storage of liquids in containers or portable tanks, separated from other types of occupancies. 

In addition to simply obtaining a representative sample of the original liquid, storage is also an important consideration. There are also areas such as flammable liquids storage areas where recent tests have shown even NFPA sprinkler requirements could be inadequate. This was very obvious when tests were made on flammable and combustible liquids in plastic containers. The best guidance for this type of room can be obtained through the IR information sheets or FM data sheets. 

An obvious effect of dissolved dye is to increase the absorption of a particular liquid crystal at some specified wavelength region. If the dye molecules undergo some physical or orientational changes following photon absorption, they could also affect the orientation of the host liquid crystal, giving rise to nonlinear or storage-type optical effects (see Chapter 8). 

Storage tanks are generally designed based upon the vapor pressure of their contents, and can range from low pressure (API-type) tanks to high pressure tanks for compressed gases or pressurized liquids. 

This is a location which is not permanently contaminated but is likely to be prone to fire hazards during processing, storage or handling of explosive gases, chemical vapour or volatile liquids, although under careful and controlled conditions. This is a location safer than Zone I with a likelihood of concentration of explosive gases, chemical vapour or volatile liquids during processing, storage or handling. This would become a fire hazard only under abnormal conditions, such as a leakage or a burst of joints or pipelines etc. Such a condition may exist only for a short period. A standard motor with additional features, as di.scussed below, may also be safe for such locations. A non-sparking type. Ex. n , or an increased safety motor, type Ex. e , may also be chosen for such locations.
