Danger zone means any zone in or around machinery in which a person is exposed to a risk to health and safety from contact with a dangerous part of machinery or a rotating stock-bar. 

STOIIP" s a term which normalises volumes of oil contained under high pressure and temperature in the subsurface to surface conditions (e.g. 1 bar, 15°C). In the early days of the industry this surface volume was referred to as stock tank oit and since measured prior to any production having taken place it was the volume initially in placd. ... 

The Standard covers bar, plates, sheets, strip, structural shapes rolled stock, pipes, sheets with laminar coating and strip of carbon, alloyed and electrical steels and sets up nondestructive magnetic method of mechanical and service properties and microstructure control. 

P/M Tool Steels. In conventionally produced high alloy tool steels (slowly cooled cast ingots), carbide tends to segregate (48). Segregated clusters of carbide persist even after hot working, and cause undesirable effects on tool fabrication and tool performance. P/M tool steels, on the other hand, provide very fine and uniform carbides in the compact, the final bar stock, and the tools. Several tool steel suppHers consoHdate gas-atomized tool steel powder by HIP to intermediate shapes, which are then hot-worked to final mill shapes. Water-atomized tool steel powder is also available (see also T OOL materials). ... 

A variety of conical refiners were developed that involved modifications of the Jordan refiner. The Hydrafiner, for example, has a short, low taper, high speed rotor, and wide bars (10). The stock is driven through the refiner by an impeller which is fitted to the smaU inlet end of the rotor shaft. The Claflin refiner has a very short, high taper plug. Vanes that fit on the wide end of the plug draw the stock through the unit (11). 

Test Piece The size and the shape of specimens will vaiy with the purpose of the test, nature of the material, and apparatus used. A large surlace-to-mass ratio and a small ratio of edge area to total area are desirable. These ratios can be achieved through the use of rectangular or circular specimens of minimum thickness. Circular specimens should be cut preferably from sheet and not bar stock to minimize the exposed end grain.

Shafts are made of material ranging from medium carbon to low alloy steel and are usually heat treated. Shafts were originally made of forgings for the compressors in process service. But because of the availability ot high quality material, hot rolled bar stock has been used for shafts up to S inches in diameter. Bar stock shafts are given the same heat treatment and quality control as forgings. Many of the process users prefer a low alloy, chrome-moly-nickel material for shafting, particularly for compressors in critical service. 

The piston is located at the end of the piston rod and acts as a movable barrier in the compressor cylinder. It is generally made from materials such as aluminum or cast iron and has a hollow center. Small-diameter high-pressure cylinders may be provided with a combined piston and rod machined from a single piece of bar stock. 

Plates, Shapes, and Bar Stock. Structural material used in the manufacture of main load carrying components of the equipment shall conform to applicable ASTM or API specifications covering steel shapes, plates, bars, or pipe, or a proprietary specification conforming to the minimum requirements of applicable ASTM or appropriate standard. Structural steel shapes having a specified minimum yield strength less than 33,000 psi, or steel pipe having a specified minimum yield strength less than 35,000 psi shall not be used. 

Cast iron is the standard material used to construct the cylindrical housing, but other materials may be used if corrosive conditions exist. The rotor is usually a continuous piece of steel that includes the shaft and is made from bar stock. Special materials can be selected for corrosive applications. Occasionally, the rotor may be a separate iron casting keyed to a shaft. On most standard air compressors, the rotor-shaft seals are semi-metallic packing in... 

A careful inspection of both shaft ends must be made to ensure that no burrs, nicks, or scratches are present that will damage the hubs. Potentially damaging conditions must be corrected before coupling installation. Emery cloth should be used to remove any burrs, scratches, or oxidation that may be present. A light film of oil should be applied to the shafts prior to installation. Keys and key-ways (discussed in Section 59.3) also should be checked for similar defects and to ensure that the keys fit properly. Properly sized key stock must be used with all keyways do not use bar stock or other material. 

A midpriced bottle of Champagne or a similar sparkling wine, eighteen dollars or so, is a useful economy, too, served as kir royales, with the addition of a fruit liqueur like creme de cassis or creme de framboise. You can look for less likely, more exotic flavors, like creme de peche, which is peach, or creme de mure, blackberry. It s a nice touch to have a bar stocked with an interesting variety. With white wine, they make a good rotation of aperitifs year-round.

The extmsion head must be capable of holding peak stock pressures of 250 bars in every flow channel. Thus, the required increased locking forces have to be capable to exert a force of 10,000 KN per head section. 

Holes were tapped in the center of each piece of bar stock to accept A inch NPT pipe, and a Kordon Mist Air aquarium bubbler was glued into a smaller hole on the bottom inside of the bubbler.
