High speed rotor

A variety of conical refiners were developed that involved modifications of the Jordan refiner. The Hydrafiner, for example, has a short, low taper, high speed rotor, and wide bars (10). The stock is driven through the refiner by an impeller which is fitted to the smaU inlet end of the rotor shaft. The Claflin refiner has a very short, high taper plug. Vanes that fit on the wide end of the plug draw the stock through the unit (11). [Pg.4]

Colloid milling is instead based on a high speed rotor/stator system, in which the processed material is grinded, dispersed, or emulsified as a consequence of its exposure to intense shear stresses, friction, and high frequency vibrations. Colloid mills are constituted by smooth or toothed rotors and stators, gear-rim dispersion machines, and intensive mixers. ... [Pg.784]

Turbomolecular pumps are based on the blades of the high speed rotors (50,000 - 90,000 rpm) providing directional acceleration to the gas molecules, moving them away from the chamber that is being evacuated. [Pg.107]
