Steel plate conveyors

A five-meter drop tower was used to drop the coal lumps on different impact surfaces shown in Fig. 1. The different impact surfaces are steel plate, conveyor belt and coal stockpile. The details development of the drop tower was... [Pg.254]

Samples of South Blackwater and Ensham coal of +16.0 mm size were collected separately, from the stockpiles of the Gladstone Port. Before testing, both types of coals were sieved to obtain a —76.2 + 50.8 mm sized samples for the drop tests. The sample was placed inside the released hopper, which was raised by overhead crane. A sample of 10 kg was dropped each time onto an enclosed horizontal steel plate, conveyor belt and coal stockpile. The dropped coal was sieved to remove the fines (-16.0 mm size). In this way the percentage of fines produced at each drop were determined. The calculation methodology for fines percentage was given in Sahoo et al. [2],... [Pg.255]

The degradation model of three samples (cushioned coal, initial 10% fines and initial 30% fines) of South Blackwater coal is determined on three impact surfaces (steel plate, conveyor belt and coal stockpile). Degradation model equation can be written as follows ... [Pg.259]

Steel plate conveyors are similar to apron feeders, as described in details in Section 10.1. The main difference lies in the length of the conveyor, which in any case is longer than that of the feeder but usually no longer than 35 m, as it is a heavy construction and, consequently, the demands in installed power are increased with length. They are mostly used to convey mixed-waste material to the disposal site. [Pg.345]

Steam-heated air is the usual heat-transfer medium employed in these dryers, although combustion gases may be used also. Temperatures above 600 K are not usually feasible because of the problems of lubricating the conveyor, chain, and roller drives. Recirculation of air is in the range of 60 to 90 percent. Conveyors may be made of wire-mesh screen or perforated-steel plate. The minimum practical screen opening size is about 30 mesh. [Pg.1196]

Infrared detectors were also used to detect the presence of flame at various conveyor locations including the end of the conveyor. High-speed color movies (200 frames per second) monitored each test to verify that flame propagation did, or did not, occur at the end of the conveyor. Rupture vents, determined to have little effect upon test results in preliminary trials, were blanked off using steel plates for some of the quench tests. [Pg.149]

Basically, they are heavy-duty feeders. Apron feeders are composed of a series of steel plates, which overlap to form a continuous belt (Figure 25). The plates are linked together or mounted on a conveyor chain and driven by sprockets. [Pg.342]

Although waste is considered as a material, in fact it is a mixture of materials, each one having its own handling characteristics, somehmes entirely different than those of the other components. There are several handling systems used to convey solid waste. The most widely used are steel plate, belt and vibrating conveyors, bucket elevators, and pneumatic systems. [Pg.345]

Electron beam irradiation has been carried out with an electrocurtain accelerator manufactured by Energy Sciences, lnc.(model CB/150/15/180). The samples were placed on steel plates in aluminum trays and passed through the conveyor system of the electron beam apparatus. The maximum available dose per pass was 20 Mrad, hence, for the highest dose used in this study(40 Mrad), two passes were utilized. In light of the depth-dose profile at 175 kilovolts electron energy level of the EB system, the radiation dose will be nearly unifiorm throughout the sample thickness(3 mil). [Pg.478]

The screw conveyor is one of the oldest and most versatile conveyor types. It consists of a helicoid flight (helix rolled from flat steel bar) or a sectional flight (individual sections blanked and formed into a helix from flat plate), mounted on a pipe or shaft and turning in a trough. Power to convey must be transmitted through the pipe or shaft and is limited by the allowable size of this member. Screw-conveyor capacities are generally limited to around 4.72 mVmin (10,000 ftvh). [Pg.1913]

Another version of the dewatering screw that has been used successfully in a number of installations (Figure 40) consists of an inclined screw with a box-like back end and an internal overflow weir. The drive is usually a variable-speed motor reducer. Rotary air lock fitted with a variable-speed drive is typically used as shown in Figure 37 in connection with the plain receiving tank and an inclined screw conveyor. Materials of construction can be chrome-plated cast iron or nickel-hard casing. The rotary valve is made of hard faced tips or stainless steel replaceable blades. [Pg.315]

Alternatively, the doctor blade can impinge onto a small conveyor belt system which supports the travelling fabric. This mechanism is less commonly used than the rigid roller as it leads to reduced control of the thickness of the spread. For precision work, using very consistent cloth, an accurately machined chromium plated steel roll can replace the rubber covered roller. [Pg.201]

The fuel solids are fed into the fluidized bed by means of a screw conveyor with a specially designed feeder valve. The feed port is located 5 inches above the gas distribution plate. The 2 -inch screw is constructed of carbon steel with a Type 310 stainless steel coating on the wearing surfaces. The construction details of this feeder and the auxiliary solid feed hopper system have been described by Burton and Bailie (2). The feeding unit has performed successfully in smoothly feeding 15-60 lbs of solids/hr into the fluidized bed. [Pg.19]

Monorail type essentially consists of a chain running inside a track (straight or bent) made of cold rolled sections with pressed steel straddle plates welded on them. The track segments are connected together with bolts. Every conveyor has a drive unit of the chain (caterpillar type)... [Pg.848]

The armoured face conveyor provides one example of Abrazo steel in underground service. Others of interest to the miner include, vehicle dump bodies, both surface and underground, skips and hoppers, impactor plates, trommels, grizzly bars and any area where high wear can be expected. [Pg.672]
