Distribution plate

Performance Data for Direct-Heat Tray Dryers A standard two-truck diyer is illustrated in Fig. 12-48. Adjustable baffles or a perforated distribution plate is normally employed to develop 0.3 to 1.3 cm of water-pressure drop at the wall through which air enters the truck enclosure. This will enhance the uniformity of air distribution, from top to bottom, among the trays. In three (or more) truck ovens, air-reheat coils may be placed between trucks if the evaporative load is high. Means for reversing air-flow direction may also be provided in multiple-truck units. [Pg.1192]

A groove for an O ring was machined into each half of the case, to provide a seal to prevent the gases from leaking around the edges of the gas distribution plates. [Pg.4]

Uniform liquid flow is essential if the best use is to be made of the packing and, if the tower is high, re-distributing plates are necessary. These plates are needed at intervals... [Pg.215]

When air classification is employed for ash beneficiation purposes, the mechanism is similar, but a high-performance cyclone is used. An example is shown in Fig. 8. Devices vary considerably in the feed arrangement used, but most employ some mechanism to effectively distribute the ash particles across the profile of the cyclone, such as a rotating cage or distribution plate. The velocity of the feed is controlled to produce the desired size separation whereby fine particles and most of the air migrate to the inner vortex while coarse ash exits the bottom. Air classifiers have been used for many years to control pozzolan fineness simply by removing coarse ash particles, particularly when LOI is not a problem. Air classification is usually not effective for reducing LOI, particularly if the carbon is fine. Some coarse carbon particles may be rejected with the coarse ash, but since the density of the carbon particles is lower than... [Pg.256]

If the coating and core bulk densities are similar, coatings of 100-150% (based on starting weight) may be applied. Fluidization is also affected by the air distribution plate configuration and the partition height. The finer the particles to be coated are, the less will be the open area in the downbed section of the orifice plate and the smaller the gap between the partition and orifice plate. [Pg.172]

Figure 2 is a schematic diagram of the two-section reactor body and accessories. The fluid bed section was made of self-bonded silicon carbide, 16 inches high by 6% inches o.d. with a recessed flange. The recess accommodated a 120-mesh porosity silicon carbide gas distribution plate. The nickel manifold assembly was topped by a heavy support flange. This manifold sup-... [Pg.673]

A fluidized bed is made up of a mass of particles buoyed up out of permanent contact with each other by a flowing fluid. Turbulent activity in such a bed promotes high rates of heat and mass transfer and uniformity of temperature and composition throughout. The basic system includes a solids feeding device, the fluidizing chamber with a perforated distributing plate for the gas, an overflow duct for removal of the dry product, a cyclone and other equipment for... [Pg.262]

The granulator with coupled reactive absorption is modeled in such a way that simultaneous computation of the conversion of the component removed from gas and granulates growth is considered. A balance area from the bottom to the top of the fluidized bed, including the apparatus wall, has been considered. The gas fluidizes particles above the air distribution plate, whilst liquid injection is possible from all directions by using either one-component or multi-component nozzles in the... [Pg.460]
