Malnutrition is a significant but reversible risk factor. High-protein diets have been shown in multiple studies to improve wound healing in patients with pressure sores.37... 

In Malaysia, a paste of leaves is applied to sore legs, and a decoction of the leaves is drunk as a protective remedy given after childbirth. To date, the pharmacological potential of F. fulgens (Hk. f. et Th.) Merr. is unexplored. It would be interesting to learn whether further study on this medicinal plant disclose any aporphines of chemotherapeutic interest.

In healthy male volunteers a dose-escalating study with iodine doses of 1-2 mL kg was performed. Liver enhancement, as measured by CT, reached values of 15-30 HU in a dose-dependent manner. The most common side-effects were headache, rhinitis, sore throat and bitter taste, which occurred at late time points (6 hours) after administration. 

All of the pyridines presently studied are analogues of benzocycloalkenes. Characterization of the acid-base properties of pyridines which are benzobicy-cloalkene analogues such as (32-37) can provide insight into the possible electronic differences caused by strain-induced through mono versus bicyclic annelations (Figure 5). In another case study, three boys (2-15 years old) and 1 girl (2 years old) exhibited blisters, erythema, fiaccid bullae, pustules, soreness, burning, and denudation of skin after dermal exposure. There are no well-documented studies showing the effects of terphenyls on humans. Clinical studies of an exposed group of workers showed no ill effects from prolonged exposure to 0.1-0.9mg/m. Workers have experienced eye and respiratory irritation at levels above lOmg/m. As a class of compounds, organic coolants (including terphenyls) have caused transient headache and sore throat. In addition, there have been cases of dermatitis attributed to skin contact with organic coolant compounds. ...

Pre-defined symptoms consisted of cough, nasal congestion, headache, sore throat, fatigue, myalgia and feverishness and each of these was assessed on an ordinal scale none, mild, moderate, severe. Alleviation was recorded as the day on which all symptoms... 

The fourth and final need is for doctmentation and education. The validation and standardization will go for naught if the practice of receptor modeling cannot be established at the state implementation plan level where it is most sorely needed. Major reviews of model applications, analytical methods, source characterization and field study design need to be prepared and communicated to those most likely to make use of them. 

Will medications known to sustain maintenance over several years continue to do so indefinitely Few studies have monitored antidepressant maintenance efficacy for periods exceeding several years (Prien and Kocsis 1995). Lacking data, the clinician can only hope that efficacy over several years will translate into sustained effectiveness over many years, decades, or indefinitely. This remains to be demonstrated. For imipramine, maintenance of euthymia has been systematically demonstrated in a small number of patients for at least 5 years (Kupfer 1992). Anecdotes suggest that SSRIs may lose some of their efficacy over time, but few convincing data support this to date. Considering the widespread use of SSRIs, research is sorely needed to address this question. 

Obidaxlme has been stated not to have any local irritant action when injected intramuscularly it did produce facial paresthesia, headache, a sensation of coolness in the mouth, generalized weakness, nausea and vomiting, pallor, pyrosis, and sore throat in 13 of 24 subjects given tablets of IV in doses of 1.84-7.36 g. Administration of IV in tablets with enteric coatings probably did not alter the incidence of side reactions—only four subjects and two doses of the oxime were used in this part of the study. 

Overuse of antibiotics comes from the desire to treat colds and other illnesses caused by viruses rather than bacteria. Unlike bacteria, viruses do not respond to antibiotics. Yet the symptoms of bacterial and viral infections are similar enough that patients often want antibiotics for both. For example, a study from Harvard University reports that more than a million children a year unnecessarily receive antibiotics for sore throats.53 While 15 to 36 percent of children with sore throats have a bacterial streptococcal infection that antibiotics can treat, 54 percent of the children studied received an antibiotic. Other studies report similar overuse among adults for sinus infections. Although only a small portion of sinus infections result from bacteria, most patients visiting physicians for the problem get a prescription for an antibiotic.

The techniques he developed and the mechanistic studies he directed have been vitally important in transforming catalysis from an empirical art into a highly sophisticated science. Loved and admired by all who knew him, Paul Emmett is remembered as a pioneer whose guidance will be sorely missed. 

Most of the toxic effects of vanadium compounds result from local irritation of the eyes and upper respiratory tract rather than systemic toxicity. The only clearly documented effect of exposure to vanadium dust is upper respiratory tract irritation characterized by rhinitis, wheezing, nasal hemorrhage, conjunctivitis, cough, sore throat, and chest pain. Case studies have described die onset of asthma after heavy exposure to vanadium compounds, blit clinical studies to date have not detected an increased prevalence of asthma in workers exposed to vanadium.
