Self-insight

Inability to understand oneself and one s actions, when it results in failure to realize intentions, is tantamount to personal incompetence. Having self-insight and being able to act on one s insight are prerequisites of being personally competent. 

Other forms of behavior have been shown to be similar to the classical addictions. Some people seem unable to control their use of credit cards or, more generally, to control their impulse to obtain goods in a pattern that is detrimental to their economy and, often, their social life. Others seem to be sexually insatiable or at least unable to abstain from the pursuit of new and ever more frequent sexual encounters. These types of behavior are often named manias, obviously to illustrate a state of mind characterized by impoverished self-insight and self-control. Evaluate Effectiveness on the Basis of Outputs and Acceptance Once the system has been implemented on its chosen site, its effectiveness needs to be evaluated at frequent intervals so that corrective action can be taken in the event of problems. First though, we must outline albeit very briefly, the basic factors important to colloidal stability and self-assembly. It is these areas that clearly hold the insights we require. Throughout the section, we highlight possible control mechanisms available to the natural system. 

The lipid molecule is the main constituent of biological cell membranes. In aqueous solutions amphiphilic lipid molecules form self-assembled structures such as bilayer vesicles, inverse hexagonal and multi-lamellar patterns, and so on. Among these lipid assemblies, construction of the lipid bilayer on a solid substrate has long attracted much attention due to the many possibilities it presents for scientific and practical applications [4]. Use of an artificial lipid bilayer often gives insight into important aspects ofbiological cell membranes [5-7]. The wealth of functionality of this artificial structure is the result of its own chemical and physical properties, for example, two-dimensional fluidity, bio-compatibility, elasticity, and rich chemical composition.

Molecular insight into the protein conformation states of Src kinase has been revealed in a series of x-ray crystal structures of the Src SH3-SH2-kinase domain that depict Src in its inactive conformation [7]. This form maintains a closed structure, in which the tyrosine-phosphorylated (Tyr527) C-terminal tail is bound to the SH2 domain (Fig. 2). The x-ray data also reveal binding of the SH3 domain to the SH2-kinase linker [adopts a polyproline type II (PP II) helical conformation], providing additional intramolecular interactions to stabilize the inactive conformation. Collectively, these interactions cause structural changes within the catalytic domain of the protein to compromise access of substrates to the catalytic site and its associated activity. Significantly, these x-ray structures provided the first direct evidence that the SH2 domain plays a key role in the self-regulation of Src.
