Bimetallic silylene-bridged complexes have been known for a long time and numerous articles related to this subject have appeared. Several compounds have been characterized, some of them also by x-ray structure analysis [165-171], For instance, the complex Mn2(CO)8(Si(C6H5)2)2 shows a distorted (MnSi)2 four-membered ring with a Mn-Mn bond [169], In the following section selected examples which have been described recently or are of particular interest in the present context will be discussed. 

In this section, selected examples of syntheses of insect defensive compounds will be presented. The impact of asymmetric synthesis and the increasing use of organometallic reagents, notably transition metal catalysts, will be highlighted.

The analytical signal extraction block is based on determination of the maximum signal response and includes the following sections selection of response extremes, determination of the extreme parameters, elimination of the weak extremes and calculation of the analytical signal for pesticide quantification. The differences between the maxima in the biosensor response and baselines were used for the calculation of analytical signals, where the line drawn between two nearby minima within the limits of each injection was taken to be the base line. 

In the following sections selected radical cation structure types derived from cr-donors will be discussed. The selection is aimed to be illustrative of their rich variety with an emphasis on the molecular features that determine these structures. 

In this section, select literature reports of the chemistry of S VO will be presented chronologically. Please note the historical evolution of SVO chemistry, from the variety of phases of SVO discovered, to the synthetic strategies necessary for specific phase preparation, then the proposed structures of the various forms of SVO, and finally the chemical reactivities of SVO (especially the redox catalysis activity). 

If a greater range of substrates could be used, the synthetic utility of the Michael reactions would be significantly enhanced. For this reason several new catalytic systems have been developed, and the scope of the Michael reaction is becoming rather broad. In this following section, selected examples are briefly described. 

In the following sections, selected examples from the recent literature are used to illustrate the creative research activities in transition-metal supramolec-ular chemistry. 

The postlactational ovary should contain primordial and growing follicles as well as the large corpora lutea of lactation. In the two-generation study, the histopathological examination includes assessment of qualitative depletion of the primordial follicle population in the parental animals. A quantitative evaluation of primordial follicles should be conducted for FI females the number of animals, ovarian section selection, and section sample size should be statistically appropriate for the evaluation procedure used. Examination should include enumeration of the number of primordial follicles, which can be combined with small growing follicles, for comparison of treated and control ovaries. 

An area of research of obvious importance and immense scope involves the incorporation of amino acid analogues into proteins. Incorporation is accomplished either by chemical synthesis or by biochemical synthesis using the protein assembly mechanisms of nature. Halogenated, especially fluorinated, amino acid analogues have been particularly useful tools in this research. In this section, selected examples of research using such analogues will be described to illustrate strategies and principles employed.

There are numerous reports of calculated properties of five-membered heterocycles, using a wide variety of MO methods. Results for individual ring systems can be found in the relevant chapters of CHEC-II and CHEC-III. In this section selected results of general interest are described. 

In the following sections, selected comparisons between experimental kinetics for single-step electrochemical reactions and the foregoing electron-transfer models will be presented in order to characterize the physical features of the experimental systems as well as to scrutinize the applicability of the theoretical models themselves. 

As already mentioned, the chemistry of reduced phospholes is extremely vast and the description of all the synthetic methods leading to these species is beyond the scope of this section. The reader should refer to a number of excellent reviews to give an overview of the syntheses and applications of reduced phospholes <1994CRV1375, 2002CRV201, 2003CRV3029>. In this section, selected examples illustrating new trends are presented. 

Are the proteins identified in the previous section selectively preserved in DOM In general, porins are expected to be resistant to bacterial degradation (Powell et al. (2005) and reference therein), and modification of these proteins, by saccharide moieties for example, may further retard their bacterial degradation. For example, in a laboratory experiment Keil and Kirchman (1993) noted longer turnover times for glycosylated ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBPCase) when compared with unmodified RuBPCase. In accordance with this report Suzuki et al. (1997) suggested that the glycosylation of porins could help to explain their enhanced preservation/accumulation in seawater. Subsequently Yamada and Tanoue (2003)... 

The actinometers described in the section "Selected Chemical Actinometers" are mostly used to measure the intensity of monochromatic radiation emitted by conventional sources, such as mercury or xenon arc lamps, metal halide lamps, etc. In this section, special applications of chemical actinometer will be reviewed, including the measurement of intensities of lasers and polychromatic light sources. In addition. 

In this section, selected studies are presented in which self-assembled monolayers have been used to address topics such as transition-state structures and sequential electron transfer. These studies were selected because they address fundamental mechanistic processes. SAMs have also been used to investigate such basic electrochemical phenomena as the potential profile near an electrode [134, 135], interfacial capacitance [136], the influence of redox [134] or polarizable [137] moieties on double-layer structure and the behavior of ultramicroelectrodes approaching molecular size [138]. These important topics are beyond the scope of this chapter, and the interested reader is directed to the literature for more information.
