Normally the experiment parameter dialog box displays the pulse program and a list of parameters with a brief comment beside each parameter. This scroll window can be changed into a more compact form by disabling the options Show pulse program and One column edit. The option Start Win NMR allows either ID WIN-NMR or 2D WIN-NMR to be started automatically as soon as the calculation is completed with the current simulated data loaded into the main display window. [Pg.109]

The names STDIN and STDOUT are derived from standard input and standard output, an idea popularized by the UNIX operating system. Standard input and standard output are abstract files from which a script can accept input and send output, respectively. When a script is first launched, standard input corresponds to the keyboard and standard output corresponds to the computer screen. On Windows and UNIX systems, standard output appears in the command interpreter window. On Macs, the output appears in a small scrolling window that MacPerl creates specifically for this pmpose. When a Perl script is laimched, the user has the option of changing where standard input and output come from and go to. The user can also arrange for the standard output of one script to be sent to the standard input of another script in assembly-line fashion. The Add 3S Global button adds a library so that all projects can use the library. The Add to Design button adds the library for the current project only. To use the Split feature to split a document window horizontally into two windows, select an entire row as if you were going to insert a row. Then choose Split from the Window menu. This creates a split in the window, above the selected row, with each part of the window displaying the active document. Each part of the document now has its own scroll bar, and you can scroll one part of the document while the other part remains fixed. A vertical split is accomplished in the same way. [Pg.43]

Excel Tip. To remove a split from a window, it s not necessary to slide the split button back to its original position at the top or left-hand side of the scroll bar. Just place the pointer on the split button and double-click. [Pg.44]

Freeze Panes can be used to create a similar split document window, but the upper or left part of the window is fixed and cannot be scrolled. Split panes are useful to display fixed row or column headings (or both) while scrolling through the rest of the worksheet. [Pg.44]

You can use the cursor keys (up, down, left, right) to move the large red cursor to any character you want to edit. If you move to a character not on the large grid (out of the window), the window automatically scrolls to make the character appear. You can also look at the bottom of the screen to move the larger cursor, since the flashing square on the character set moves with the main grid. [Pg.200]

These elements are not all found on every window, as programmers can choose to eliminate or modify them. Still, in most cases these will be constant, with the rest of the window filled in with menus, toolbars, a workspace or other application-specific elements. For instance, Microsoft Word, the program with which this book was written, adds an additional control box and minimize and maximize buttons for each document. It also has a menu bar, a number of optional toolbars, scroll bars at the right and bottom of the window, and a status bar at the very bottom. Application windows can become very cluttered. [Pg.490]
