This specification covers horizontal, end suction, vertically split, single-stage centrifugal pumps with top centerline discharge and hack pullout feature. 

This type of end suction vertically. split pump is used extensively in the chemical proee,ss industry. It is probably the most popular of all pump designs, see Figure 6-8.

If there is a preference as to horizontal or vertical split casing, it should be stated., Also the suction and discharge connections should be stated as to top or end, or special, together with the preference as to flanged (rating) or screwed. Small pumps are commonly furnished with screwed connections unless otherwise specified. 

Centrifugal compressor cases are classified as horizontally split or vertically split (Figures 12-40A-C). The 5th Edition, April, 1988, API Standard 617 refers to the horizontally split style as Axial Split and vertically split units as Radial Split The first terminology is more standard than that of the API-617. Figure 12-40D illustrates one flow arrangement for back-to-back internal flow, with the following advantages ... 

Type case (horizontally split, vertically split). Cooling—diaphragm cooled, external intercoolers, liquid injection in case (this should be selected only on recommendation of manufacturer). 

Horizontally split casings are easier to open for inspection than vertically split ones, reducing maintenance time.

Where such seals are unfavourable, for example, with horizontally split compressor housings, structural measures, such as the use of vertically split barrel housings, are used to guarantee a reliable seal. The clamping and sealing of diaphragms for diaphragm pumps and compressors requires special static seals [5,29],...

To use the Split feature to split a document window horizontally into two windows, select an entire row as if you were going to insert a row. Then choose Split from the Window menu. This creates a split in the window, above the selected row, with each part of the window displaying the active document. Each part of the document now has its own scroll bar, and you can scroll one part of the document while the other part remains fixed. A vertical split is accomplished in the same way. 

Leaves with water-soaked or papery, white spots with vertical splits. Cause Onion leaf blight. Leaf tips turn yellow, then brown. Spray plants with sulfur as soon as you see symptoms if weather is cool and humid. Prevent problems by planting tolerant cultivars such as Tokyo Long White . 

The surface geometries of the Al(l 10)—c(2 x 2)—Li and Na phases formed by adsorption of 1/2 ML Li or Na at room temperature. Interlayer spacings are denoted dij (A), where do (A) is the alkali-Al spacing. The spacings are given with respect to the outer surfaces in the case of the rumpled third and fifth A1 layers, r (A) denotes the effective hard-sphere radius of an adsorbed alkali atom. Vertical splitting of the I th A1 layer is denoted Az, (A). The final column gives the value of the R factor for the comparison of experimental and calculated LEED spectra. 

Besides conventional nanotubes, other nanostructured anodic Ti02 was also reported. Ti02 nanowires (Fig. 5) were developed under specific anodization condition [38], Like bamboo splitting, the nanowires originated from the vertical splitting of nanotubes, which was caused by the electric field induced longitudinal flow of ions. A small addition of water is essential for the formation of nanowires and the amount of water required decreases with increasing applied potential. 

A nonclassical theory of ET must take account of the interaction between the R and P states of the system. We noted, in connection with Figs. 4.7 and 4.8, that the R and P snrfaces do not really cross nnless the R and P states are diabatic (non-interacting). However, they mnst interact to some extent if ET is to be possible. This interaction mixes the R and P wavefunctions and creates an avoided crossing in the intersection region with a vertical splitting between them of 2H, as shown in Fig. 4.11.
