Title block

The data shall be identified on transmittal (cover) letters and in title blocks or title pages with the following information ... 

Vendor contract data shall be fumi shed and maintained as specified in Appendix O. Each drawing, bill of material, and data sheet shall have a title block in its lower right-hand comer that shows the date of certification, a reference to all identification data specified in 6.1.2, the revision number and date, and the title. 

Each drawing shall have a title block in the lower right-hand corner with the date of certification, identification data specified in 9.1.2, revision number and date and title. Similar information shall be provided on all other documents. 

The title block contains information about you, your company, and the schematic. We will be using the title block to identify the student, class, and university where the schematic was created. There are four ways we can modify the title block. The first way shows how to change the title block for the current schematic. This method must be repeated each time you create a new schematic. The second way shows you how to tell Capture information about yourself that is used in every schematic you create. This could be information such as your name, company, address, and phone number. The third method shows how to select a different title block from a list of available title blocks already created. The fourth method is to create a new title block and save it in a symbol library. 

The first thing we want to do is place your name and class information on your schematic. In the bottom right comer of your schematic is a title block. To see this block we must scroll the view of the page to the bottom right comer. To do this, click the LEFT mouse button on the vertical and horizontal scroll bars as shown below ... 

This is a title block that I created for this text and my students. In Section I.J.4 we will show you how to customize this title block for your needs. J.2. Specifying Commonly Used Information for All Title Blocks... 

The information here corresponds to the information displayed in the title block. Field in the title block corresponds to the information you enter in Organization Address 1, and field in the title block corresponds to the information you enter in Organization Address 2. The title block we are using only has these two fields. When we look at other title blocks, they will have more fields that are associated with the information in this title block. 

For a school, the commonly used information is your name and the name of your class. For the Rose title block, this information goes in fields Organization Address 1 and Organization Address 2, You can also specify a value for the Revision. You can add information in the other fields, but it will not be used by the currently displayed title block ... 

A blank schematic is displayed. The title block is in the lower right comer. Use the scroll bars to scroll the page to the lower right comer of the page. I will zoom in on my schematic to see the title block more clearly. (To zoom in, place the mouse pointer over the title block and press the I key.)... 

There are several predefined title blocks from which you can choose. In this section we will show how to choose a different title block. In the next section, we will show how to modify an existing title block to create your own custom title block. We will first look at the available title blocks. We will assume that you still have the project open from the previous example. This is a blank schematic, and we can place title blocks in it without worrying about cluttering up a useful schematic. 

To place a title block, select Place and then Title Block from the menus ... 

This dialog box lists all of the predefined title blocks and the library in which they reside. If you installed the demo software in the default directory, then the two libraries are ... 

A picture of the title block is displayed in the dialog box. The picture of the title block is a bit too small to see all of the details, so we will place it in the schematic. Click the OK button to place the block in the schematic page. The outline of the title block will appear attached to the mouse pointer ... 

Now that we have found the title block we wish to use, we want to specify it as our default title block for all schematics. Select Options and then Design Template from the Capture menus ... 

The last two fields in the dialog box specify the Library Name and the Title BIOCH Name. Change these to the appropriate values for your selected title block. The information for the title block I have chosen is ... 

The title block I have chosen has 5 fields that take information from this title block. The fields are , , <0rgAddr2>, <0rgAddr3>, and <0rgAddr4>. I will enter this information for these fields ... 

For our last example, we will modify the Rose Title Block l to match your company or school name and address. Follow the procedure starting on page 52 to close any open projects. You should have the window shown below ... 

The Rose Title Block l is in library user.olb. This library is small enough so that you can modify the items in the library with the demo version of the software. You cannot modify the title blocks in the CAPSYM.olb library with the Lite version, but you can copy them to the user.olb library and then modify them. Here, we will modify the Rose Title Block l since it is already in the user.olb library. 

We will first duplicate the title block. Click the LEFT mouse button on the text ROSe TltlC BIOCH 1 to select it ... 

Before we can paste the title block to create a new part, we must rename the old part. Click the RIGHT mouse button on the text Rose TitleJBlOCk 7. A menu will appear... 

Enter a name for the title block and click the OK button ... 

If you enter the wrong path name or the wrong title block name in the dialog box above, new schematic pages will be created without a title block. 

When you create a new project, it should use the new title block we just created ... 

Select the portion of the circuit that you would like to copy. Note that CTRL-A selects everything, including the title block ...
