Foam printing compositions have been devised which can he applied on conventional roller print or rotary screen print machines (12). These systems are not yet commercial.

There are two fundamentally different ways in which the reservoir of transfer lubricant can be located. It can be a part of, or the whole of, one of the normal load-bearing machine components, and this has been variously described as direct, primary, or two-body transfer lubrication. Alternatively it can be a separate auxiliary component present only to provide a lubrication reservoir, whose sole function is to transfer lubricant to one of the other machine components. This has been described as indirect, secondary, or three-body transfer lubrication. In the Russian literature the latter is called "Rotaprint Lubrication" by analogy with the use of a separate inking roller to transfer ink to the cylinder in a rotary printing press ° ° ° .

Zimmer flatbed printing machine (Peter Zimmer) - A carpet printing machine that uses flat screens and dual, metal-roll squeegees. The squeegees are operated by electromagnets to control the pressure applied. The unit also has a steamer for dye fixation. The Zimmer flatbed machine is normally used for carpets of low to medium pile heights. Very precise designs are possible, but speeds are slower than with rotary screen printers. 

Paste point process To avoid an insertion in the fabric, the bonding agent is applied as a strongly thickened paste on the fabric. Single-color rotary screen printing machines are used for this process. They are also used in the bonding process.

Because of the mechanical limit set by the enormous pressure involved in transferring ink to paper, the platen technique can print only areas up to 510 by 380 mm. However, rotary machines with rollers 2 m long, diameters capable of printing four pages of newsprint per revolution, and running at 40000 rph are producing some of today s newspapers. 

Over the years letterpress printing has declined into niche markets, two of which are the printing of plastic self-adhesive labels on narrow-web rotary-offset letterpress machines that are fitted with UV drying and the common-impression rotary-offset letterpress and UV-curing on mandrel of plastic containers such as yoghurt tubs and toothpaste tubes. In uses such as these the most common self-adhesive plastic is PVC and the most usual for tubs and tubes are polystyrene, PVC, ABS, and polypropylene. 

Until recently the printing processes have tended to be limited, i.e. flexographic, rotary letterpress (four colours), with gravure (occasionally). The labels are produced in accurate register on the backing paper—on reel-fed machines, printing, punching and removal of trim are carried out as a continuous operation (platens are also used.)...

Machine-printing n. The method by which the bulk of modern wallpapers are produced. Machine-printing employs a rotary press and a series of cylinders or rollers to turn out wallpaper at high speeds. Raw paper stock is first given a coating of the ground color by a special machine, after which the paper proceeds in a continuous web to the rotary press where the top colors are applied, and it is then festooned on specially heated drying racks.
