Natural frequencies are generated by impacts of the internal parts of a rolling-element bearing. These impacts are normally the result of slight variations in load and imperfections in the machined bearing surfaces. As their name implies, these are natural frequencies and are present in a new bearing that is in perfect operating condition. [Pg.744]

All machines depend for their accuracy on the strength of their component parts, their bearings and on the type and efficiency of their lubrication systems. Many machine bearings are subjected to extremely heavy shock loads, or intermittent loads, or exposure to unfavorable environmental conditions, yet in spite of this they must always maintain their setting accuracy. [Pg.844]

As in almost every type of machine, bearings play an important role in the efficient functioning of machine tools. [Pg.865]

Antimony alloys have many commercial applications. The metal makes its alloys hard and stiff and imparts resistance to corrosion. Such alloys are used in battery grids and parts, tank linings, pipes and pumps. The lead plates in the lead storage batteries constitute 94% lead and 6% antimony. Babbit metal, an alloy of antimony, tin, and copper is used to make antifriction machine bearings. Alloys made from very high purity grade antimony with indium, gallium and bismuth are used as infrared detectors, diodes, hall effect devices and thermoelectric coolers. [Pg.49]

Bearing bracket alignment. In contrast to horizontally split compressors where the bearing brackets are normally an integral part of the lower case half in barrel machines bearing brackets are bolted to... [Pg.69]

Polyimides. They were developed first by DuPont and Monsanto for ultra-high-temperature applications such as electrical insulation, machine bearings, and structural components in instrumentation and aerospace development. These are theoretically linear but not at all processable by thermoplastics techniques. [Pg.24]

Use Thermoscopy (detecting overheating of machine bearings) by reversible color change. [Pg.800]

USE As alloy with iridium for pen points and fine machine bearings as catalyst in the synthesis of ammonia as catalyst in hydrogenation of or genic compounds. [Pg.1090]

Can it be possible to consider Daisy Bell as a machine, bearing in mind that the definition in the sense of the directive is an assembly of components where at least one is mobile Daisy Bell basically consists of a cone. [Pg.1964]

This hard shiny metal is often alloyed to other elements. It is used in various industrial fields, such as those making or using batteries, printing machines, bearing, textiles, and ceramics. It caused positive patch test reactions in two workers in a ceramics industry. [Pg.1129]

As a mechanic, you observe that a machine bearing is extremely hot and becoming discolored as it operates. Your conclusion is that the ... [Pg.33]

This technique can be used to deposit ferrous-, nickel-, and cobalt-based alloys and some ceramics. It is used in the repair of machine bearing surfaces, piston and shaft bearing or seal areas, and corrosion and wear resistance for boilers and structiu s (e.g., bridges). [Pg.799]

Applications Office equipment (fax mechanical parts, inc. rollers, keyboard key-plungers). Audio-video equipment parts (noiseless gears). Automotive parts (seat belt components, stabilizer bushes). Film process and vending machine bearings. Houseware (runners for furniture). Valve parts. Rails. Rollers for automatic massagers. ... [Pg.158]
