In a typical process the finely divided dry crystals are compacted under heat and pressure in a roU press into briquettes having a density of 1.550 to 1.590. The briquettes are passed to a rotary screen where the fins, thin layers of material attached to the periphery of the briquette centerline, are removed and reprocessed. The finished briquettes pass into large storage bins from where they are loaded into rail-hopper cars or shipping bins or packaged into dmms and other shipping containers. [Pg.383]

In a rotary screen system plastisols for compact and textured products are applied to suitable substrates continuously from seamless, cylindrical nickel screens. The plastisols are fed into the screens and pressed through perforations to the substrate by a squeegee of flexible steel or rubber the substrate is supported by a counter-pressure roller, usually of chromium-plated steel. The principle is illustrated in Figure 111. [Pg.295]

The range of rotary screens has been extended by the development of the Penta screen, which has a higher open area for a given mesh number than a normal screen. This result is achieved by the use of openings in a different form those in normal screen are of conical shape, with diameter diminishing towards the outer surface with increasing mesh number the diameter of the opening becomes smaller, and with this the open area of the screen. In Penta screens the... [Pg.300]

Foam printing compositions have been devised which can he applied on conventional roller print or rotary screen print machines (12). These systems are not yet commercial. [Pg.170]

Printing is most often done with rotary screens etched in the design to be printed. Printing paste is fed constantly to the center of the rotating screen from a nearby supply, and a squeegee pushes the colored paste through the holes in the screen, leaving the dye paste only in the intended areas, a separate screen is required for each color in the pattern. See Fig. 13.27. [Pg.530]
