Fiber flock

Fiber flock binder dry cleaning and washing resistant. Suitable for screen printing and rotary screen printing machines. [Pg.589]

Acrylic acid ester dispersion with extremely high stability to solvents, back-sizing of velvet upholstery fabrics good pile fixation basis for fiber flock binder. [Pg.595]

Fiber flocking Also called flock spraying. It is a method of coating by spraying finely dispersed fibers or powders by pneumatic or electrostatic means on adhesive coated surface producing a velvety surface. Another method takes preheated parts that are dropped into a bed of fibers or powders. Fibers used include nylon, rayon, cotton, or TP polyester. It provides an attractive/decorative surface, sound absorber, etc. [Pg.84]

Reinforcement n A strong, inert, fibrous material incorporated in a plastic mass to improve mechanical properties. Typical reinforcements are Asbestos, Boron Fiber, Carbon Fiber, Ceramic Fiber, Flock,... [Pg.621]

Cotton fibers Flock, fabric, chopped, linters, seed huUs, seed fiber, cellulose fibers... [Pg.44]

Bale opening consists of opening the bales and converting them into single-fiber flocks. The type and intensity of the individualization of the fibers critically influence the further processing steps. The more intensively the cotton fibers have been individualized, the more contamination particles appear on the surface of the fiber bulk and may be removed. Target weights for the individualized flocks are about 0.02 to 0.03 g. [Pg.98]

With modern bale-reducing systems, up to 80 bales are lined up on the floor and reduced by a programmable bale breaker in layers from top to bottom. Fiber flocks are removed mechanically with the help of beaters (Fig. 3.3). The fiber flocks are then transported by air streams through pipelines. [Pg.98]

The main functions of the opening and cleaning machines are the further separation of the fiber flocks and the removal of contamination particles and dust from the cotton. High fiber throughput with as little fiber damage as possible is desired. [Pg.99]

The preparation of flocked fabric using acryflc adhesives is detailed in Reference 198. In flocking, cut fibers are bonded to an adhesive-coated fabric to achieve both a decorative and a functional effect. Acrylics can be tailored to provide the unique balance between softness and durability required for this... [Pg.171]

Steeping. Sheet, roU, or suitably milled flock pulp is metered into a pulper along with vigorously stirred 18% sodium hydroxide solution at 50°C. The resulting slurry, containing about 5% finely dispersed pulp, passes to a buffer tank from which it is metered to a slurry press that sieves out the swollen fiber and returns the pressings soda for concentration correction and reuse. The cellulose reacts with the soda as a complex alcohol to form the sodium salt or alk-ceU. [Pg.346]

Flock is made by precision-cutting tow into 0.5—3-mm fiber lengths. [Pg.251]

Nylon is the preferred fiber for flocking because of its good chemical bonding to a wide range of adhesives, its toughness, and its ease of dyeabiHty and printabihty. Nevertheless, the tow must be manufactured with the proper ktex, cohesion, and spin finish to be readily converted to flock (133). [Pg.256]
