Rose absolute

Rose oil and rose absolute are used mainly in fine fragrances. Rose oil is also used in small amounts for flavoring purposes. [Pg.215]

Rose absolute is prepared from the concrete extracted from Rosa x damascena in the countries mentioned above, as well as from Rosa centifolia L. types in Morocco and the south of France (rose de mai). [Pg.216]

Although the essential character of the perfume is built around the ingredients already mentioned, most of its richness and quality comes from the use of jasmin and rose absolutes. By the addition of these two materials many hundreds of individual ingredients are added that envelop and decorate the main structure of the perfume. Here we have a perfect example of classical simplicity combined with the complexity that comes from the use of fine natural materials. [Pg.103]

An absolute may not contain all the volatile oils from a plant it will only have those that are alcohol soluble, e.g. rose absolute. Even after processing, some products may still contain some wax, e.g. orange flower. [Pg.84]

An absolute oil is an aromatic, volatile substance obtained by solvent extraction from a single botanical species, e.g. rose absolute, jasmine absolute. The resulting oil should have nothing added or removed during or after this process. [Pg.130]

The extraction process used depends on the plant. For instance, lemon or lime, orange, grape fruit, and bergamot are usually expressed because the oils are present in the peels and the oils are released when the peel is ruptured. Others, that include lavender, clary sage, chamomile, and rose geranium, are usually distilled. Some flowers, like rose, for example, are distilled and solvent extracted, resulting in either a rose absolute or rose Otto. [Pg.162]

Occurrence The main component of rose absolute and rose water occurs in small amounts in many flavors and essential oils, e. g., beer, cocoa, and tea flavor, as well as geranium, neroli [see orange flower absolute (oil)], and ylang-ylang oil. Frequently, P. occurs in glycosidic form. ... [Pg.482]

Composition The main components are (-)- citro-nellol (ca. 40%) geraniol (ca. 15%), and nerol (see geraniol) (ca. 7%). In contrast to rose absolute (see below), R. oil contains very little 2-phenylethanol (ca. 2%). A large number of compounds contributes to the typical odor of R. oil, some of which are only present in traces, e.g., rose oxide and P- damascenone. [Pg.558]

Rose absolute Red-brown liquid with an adherent, sweet-balsamy rose-like odor. [Pg.558]

ISO standard 9842 shows character and data for oils from various sources. Blending is done with synthetic phenyl ethyl alcohol, synthetic rhodinol, and geraniol from palmarosa oil. Geranium oil, ylang oil, rose absolute, and palmarosa oil are used for nishing. Detection has to be done by GC MS system and by chiral separation with multidimensional GG-MS.
