Review friendly

Objective 6 centers on the preparation of a reviewer-friendly submission that regulatory authorities will use to determine whether to permit marketing of the new drug for the indications and dose regimens being sought. 

GLP has had a big impact in ensuring the quality of regulatory submissions, and the authorities can now rely on the accuracy and integrity of the data presented. Regulatory affairs professionals also aim to ensure another aspect of this quality by providing the full set of information required, in the specified format and in a manner which is reviewer friendly . 

Notwithstanding all the requirements for a complete, comprehensive and approv-able application, the regulatory professional is now called upon to assist in the design of the approval application and its subparts. The ultimate intent of this exercise is to render an application that is reviewer friendly. In the past, this ended at good copies, complete tables of contents, tabs, and reviewer guides. Now, with the advent of electronic applications, the sponsor may creatively use electronic commentary, hyperlinks, and application schematics to ease review. All of this translates into an efficient and potentially more rapid review, which is one of the cardinal aims. 

Although Strike found most of these articles on Strike s own, our good friend and learned scholar Osmium emailed Strike some of the above group s articles and quite a few more that we will get at in just a bit. The following methods can be read about in the original articles in which they were published [49-51]. But there is a nice review by the same authors in which a representative example of each of their methods is included [52]. The following were taken from that review. X and speed chemists just substitute an equimolar amount of their respective p-Nitropropene for the one in the methods below. Also, it should be obvious that these reduction methods will work just fine on 2CB and other phenethylamine intermediates.

Room temperature ionic liquids arc currently receiving considerable attention as environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional organic solvents in a variety of contexts.144 The ionic liquids have this reputation because of their high stability, inertness and, most importantly, extremely low vapor pressures. Because they are ionic and non-conducting they also possess other unique properties that can influence the yield and outcome of organic transformations. Polymerization in ionic liquids has been reviewed by Kubisa.145 Commonly used ionic liquids are tetra-alkylammonium, tetra-alkylphosphonium, 3-alkyl-l-methylimidazolium (16) or alkyl pyridinium salts (17). Counter-ions are typically PF6 and BF4 though many others are known.

Polymer disposal in an inappropriate manner creates environmental problems such as dioxin formation, catastrophic fires, breeding of rats, and mosquitoes. Several methods have been explored to utilize plastics and mbber waste in an environment-friendly manner. Some of the recent advances in mbber recycling are reviewed in this chapter with special emphasis to waste mbber reutilization in plastics and mbbers. The utilization of waster mbber powder in polymer matrices provides an attractive strategy for polymer waste disposal. 

Errors and Inconsistencies in Formatting Dates. It is also necessary to use standardized formats to record dates. For example, Oracle stores a date as the number of seconds since January 1, 4712 BC, and then uses various functions to display the dates in more human-friendly formats. There are many different and personal ways for recording dates one of the authors (AS) has noted at least 25 different ways in a single clinical trial submitted for FDA review Should February 1,2007 be recorded as 1 February 2007,1 Feb 2007, 1 Feb 07, or 02/01/07 This problem still exists when data for numerical dates are extracted into software programs such as Excel that do not force the user to select a unique format for dates. 

Review the effect that legislation has had on the manufacture of dyes during the last 25 years. Highlight two dyes that are no longer produced because of legislation and show how they have been effectively replaced by more environmentally friendly alternatives. 

Precious metals have faced a significant price increase and the fear of depletion. By contrast, iron is a highly abundant metal in the crust of the earth (4.7 wt%) of low toxicity and price. Thus, it can be defined as an environmentally friendly material. Therefore, iron complexes have been studied intensively as an alternative for precious-metal catalysts within recent years (for reviews of iron-catalyzed organic reactions, see [12-20]). The chemistry of iron complexes continues to expand rapidly because these catalysts play indispensable roles in today s academic study as well as chemical industry.

Review of the patient s history should include recent travel, type of foods ingested (e.g., salads or unpeeled fruit), the nature of water and fluid consumed, and description of any symptoms of friends or relatives who ate the same food. 

PMEA and its congeners are more effective in vivo than could be predicted from their in vitro potency. While less potent as an antiretrovirus agent than AZT in vitro, PMEA proved clearly superior to AZT when the two drugs were compared for their effectiveness in vivo, in mice infected with murine Moloney sarcoma virus [51,52]. PMEA was also shown to be effective against various other retrovirus infections, including Friend leukemia virus (FLV), Rauscher leukemia virus (RLV), and LP-BM5 (murine AIDS) virus infection in mice, feline leukemia virus (FeLV) or feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) infection in cats, and SIV infection in macaque (rhesus) monkeys (for review, see Ref. 53). In the latter model [54], again PMEA proved far superior to AZT in suppressing several parameters of the disease.
