The requirement for keeping every version of software and hardware, operating systems, and manuals, as well as the retention of personnel with the relevant technology skills, generally makes the preservation of obsolete technologies unfeasible. 

Control of the size and amount of contamination entering the system from any other source is the responsibility of the personnel who service and maintain the equipment. During installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic equipment, the retention of cleanliness of the system is of paramount importance for subsequent satisfactory performance. 

The retention of experienced and knowledgeable personnel during facility operation and closure is an important management issue. The incorporation of IH records into the personnel files ofemployees is a practice that is very much open to conjecture. Typically, this practice is used where there is not an on-site medical department that can act as a defined repository for important (and legally required) IH or medical records to be retained.
