Turnover of staff

Permitting schemes can be viewed as authorisation systems, but they usually only control production. To control the marketing of chemicals, certification schemes exist under which companies can sell only to certified, licensed, or trained customers. The costs for conforming to a certification scheme can be particularly high for SME3S [132] and certification schemes may be inappropriate in sectors where there is a high turnover of staff [132],... 

Engineering companies trade on their reputation, which can serve as a measure of their technical competence. However, past performance needs to be balanced against turnover of staff (either permanent or contract) as key knowledge that may have been underpinning past success will leave with the staff that move on. 

Twelve of 17 safety representatives interviewed about this firmly believed that staff did know who they were 2 thought that this was the case and 3 believed that some staff would know them. One mentioned that there is such a high turnover of staff that it is difficult to keep people informed of his role. Another mentioned difficulties in finding time to travel around the area and become acquainted with staff. Others suspected that staff may confuse them with health and safety officers employed by the company. 

Education was seen by some respondents to be complicated by the fact that there was, on some parts of the railway, a high turnover of staff. Hence it could be difficult to provide all of the necessary training. Safety representatives were the most likely of all grades of staff to suggest that more accidents could be prevented by improved working environment and improved equipment, namely issues of workplace design. This also emerged as a workforce and safety officer concern (Nelkin and Brown, 1984 51) ... 

The First Review Conference welcomed the decision by the Council on the effective starting date of tenure of staff, and recalled the Conference s decision at its Second Special Session on 30 April 2003 (C-SS-2/DEC.1, dated 30 April 2003). These decisions will now be implemented, and the First Review Conference stressed the need to monitor the implementation of the OPCW s tenure policy, and the need for regular reporting by the Director-General to the Council on its implementation, and in particular on the implementation of the guiding principles in effecting the turnover of staff The First Review Conference also noted that the issue of the OPCW s Staff Rules and amendments to Staff Regulation 3.3, and the issue of the classification of posts, remain within the purview of the Council and should be resolved without delay. 

There was a high turnover of staff personnel. This may have resulted in poor understanding of the system, thus pushing the system to its limit. 

Reduction of staff turnover and recruitment costs this is achieved because graduate schemes increase motivation and instil a sense of belongingness. 

During 1997/98, the Australian public service was extensively restmctured, and many staff were redeployed. Many projects depend greatly on contracted resources, and turnover of such staff can be high. Once staff are dispersed, there may be an irretrievable loss of knowledge. 

Those concerned with the administration of literature chemists have always recognized that theirs was an educational role as well as one of direction. Literature chemists are people, with natural drives, incentives, and desires. Women marry, have children, and (as a rule) eventually leave the profession. Many of those who stay, and many of the men who work in this field, sooner or later qualify for better positions which cannot always be provided by the companies for which they are working. As a consequence, a substantial degree of staff turnover is normal, not exceptional. 

Keeping a trained QA auditor on staff is expensive. If the lab does not have a full range of GLP projects it may also be difficult to keep the QA auditor challenged and productive. A turnover of QA staff" can be detrimental to the quality of the projects. 

In 1998 the group employed 65180 staff worldwide and had a turnover of FF 87 000 million. The principal consolidated companies are listed in the annual report, and a geographical breakdown of the location of the workforce is given in the CER. 

Protection of commercial knowledge. The expert system acts as a knowledge archive for formulation information, thereby overcoming the problems of staff turnover.

Determination of the maintenance effort is again a difficult task. It will depend on factors such as the size of the system, the age since delivery, structure and type of system, quality of the documentation standards and the document update procedures in place, the number of reported bugs, the type and number of change requests that are mandatory and desirable, the use of change control procedures, the establishment of test procedures, the level of staff competence and training and staff turnover. 

These PO structure a specific business model within a supply chain, and they have roles and interests that are qualitatively different than the sum of individual interests of their members. It has other interests than individual smallholders. Not the farm gate price is the prime concern, but the margin on commercialization of production. Profit is not their prime objective instead they look foremost to ways to maximize the turnover of products from their members. Generating profit (or surplus) on economic activities is however a necessity as they struggle to meet ends as a intermediary enterprise pay staff pay organizational expenses of member consultations pay taxes etc. Their commercial activities are mostly realized in straight competition with private actors in the chain (middlemen). 

Another result was dramatically improved morale. People began to enjoy work that was previously seen as drudgery. Between 1988 and 1995, only two persons out of our total staff of 30 left to work for another company. This amounts to a turnover of less than 2 percent annually. Years later employees remembered the process with vivid, positive feelings about it.
