Research inventory

The advent of microcomputer-based systems such as those described here provides a new opportunity for individuals to store and manipulate personal and proprietary data. Small data collections of up to a few thousand compounds can be stored to keep track of new research, inventories, and laboratory data. Such information has traditionally been kept in card files or unindexed file folders. When stored as a PC-based structure file, this data can be rapidly searched and specific information easily retrieved and evaluated. 

The HOME inventory (Caldwell and Bradley, 1979) (preschool version) was administered at age 3 years by a nurse trained in its use by a psychologist. This instrument, developed by Bradley and Caldwell (1977), has revealed a substantial relationship between aspects of the home environment and children s intellectual and language development during early childhood. The decision to include this measure, rather than the Parent Attitude Research Inventory, was made after the study group participated in the First International Lead Workshop in Cincinnati in 1981 (Bomshein, 1962). At that time, its administration at 2 years of age was precluded, as some of the cohort had already passed their second birthday. Because the HOME inventory will be administered again at age five years, a measure of its stability over time will be possible.

The breeder reactor, which would produce and bum plutonium and gradually increase the inventory of fissionable material, requires reprocessing of nuclear fuel. As of 1995 only limited research and development was in progress on breeder reactors, mainly in France and Japan. 

HEU De-Enrichment. Highly enriched uranium (HEU), initially enriched to >93% U, for use in research, naval reactors, and nuclear weapons, may be de-enriched and fabricated into fuel for civihan nuclear reactors. A fundamental statutory prerequisite to patentabiHty is novelty. A lack of novelty occurs when each and every element of the invention, as it is claimed, is found in a single disclosure which occurs before the date of invention. Such a disclosure may occur in any of a number of forms. To be an adequate disclosure, it should be catalogued or inventoried as a book might be in a reference Hbrary and open to pubHc dissernination. The novelty requirement presents the inventor with an extensive Hst of "cans" and "caimots." Unfortunately, the natural course of research and development often leads to activities which are much more readily categorized as "caimots" than "cans." Ultimately these activities may even proscribe the issuance of a patent if an appHcation is not filed in a timely fashion.

The concentration of the ZSM-5 additive should be greater than 1% of the catalyst inventory to see a noticeable increase in the octane. An octane boost of one research octane number (RON) will typically require a 2% to 5% ZSM-5 additive in the inventory. Large amounts of carbon are found in the terrestrial ecosystems and there is a rapid exchange of carbon between the atmosphere, terrestrial biota, and soils. The complexity of the terrestrial ecosystems makes any description of their role in the carbon cycle a crude simplification and we shall only review some of the most important aspects of organic carbon on land.
