For adiabatic flow in a constant area duct, the governing equations can be formulated in a more generalized dimensionless form that is useful for the solution of both subsonic and supersonic flows. We will present the resulting expressions and illustrate how to apply them here, but we will not show the derivation of all of them. For this, the reader is referred to publications such as that of Shapiro (1953) and Hall (1951). [Pg.279]

Generally, it is not necessary to seek anyone s permission to use public domain works. However, when using material that appeared in a U.S. government publication, check the caption or reference section to see if credit is given to a source for which permission is required. [Pg.81]

Reminder Even though material in a U.S. government publication generally does not require permission to reproduce it,sometimes government publications include material that is protected by copyright. Always check the caption or reference section to determine whether you need to obtain permission to reproduce it. [Pg.81]

In the technical library the starting point of all searches is the file of index slips which the library has accumulated. This file includes references in periodicals, government publications, material put out by associations and societies, trade literature, books, literature searches previously made, and miscellaneous material. As in the case of patent searches, an earlier investigation brought up to date may take care of the request or some portion of it. Standard reference works in the field in question are then consulted. Abstract journals are covered next. This step in the search is of the greatest importance, as it serves as a key to the periodical literature. An abstract is not regarded as a substitute for the article abstracted in all but a brief preliminary examination the original reference is read if at all possible. [Pg.229]

Market research contributes to all functions of enterprise, from laboratory to sales. Four specific cases are outlined to illustrate some of the many methods avoilable for obtaining market information. The contributions of domestic journals, government publications, foreign journals, and other sources are analyzed. The significance of one-time publications is discussed with particular reference to congressional hearings, court actions, and the activities of the Tariff Commission. [Pg.117]

In each reference there is a notation concerning the location of a copy of the publication. Location is indicated as follows BC, Bureau of the Census GPRR, Government Publications Reading Room, Library of Congress IASI, Inter American Statistical Institute and LC, classified collection of the Library of Congress. [Pg.48]

The concepts in this book have been tested on over a thousand students, and the book includes new cases developed to illustrate contexts based on my consulting and research experience. Several of the chapters are motivated by the content of research papers, which I have adapted to be accessible to students in a business school or an industrial engineering course. The problem sets provide many contexts to test your ability to apply the tools we will learn. The applications are highlighted with specific case studies, references to websites that provide updated content, and trade and government publications to let you gauge the financial impact of choices. Through this work, I hope you will be convinced and understand that supply chains can and do have a significant impact. [Pg.152]

Forum on the Construction Industry http //www.abanet.org/forums/construction/ (accessed November 3, 2010). A forum of the American Bar Association on the construction industry, the Web site contains past issues of the electronic newsletter, an index to Construction Lawyer, and an online bookshop referring to publications on design-build, which encompasses all U.S. states and Canada, fundamentals of construction law, and federal government construction contracts. [Pg.154]

Of the more recent works one of the most important is A Guide to the Literature of Chemistry by E. J. Crane, A. M. Patterson and E. B. Marr (Wiley, 1957). Its chapters deal with books, periodicals, patents, government publications, trade literature, other sources, indexes, libraries, and procedure in literature searches. There are also several valuable appendixes. It is a most comprehensive guide which shows how to use each form of the literature, analyses the various kinds of sources of information, and tells the reader how to keep up to date. It is useful as a reference tool and as a textbook, showing the correct way to use libraries and indexes in carrying out literature searches. [Pg.38]
