Projection systems

Scanning electron beam systems are available commercially, and are commonly used for mask generation. Electron projection systems are also used to obtain resolution over a large field. Current cathode sources have a short lifetime, limiting use in production processes. 

Under 1 arcsec seeing, the LGS FWHM was 1.4 arcsec. Images taken with the Keck primary mirror defocused (Fig. 24) demonstrated the level of distortion expected for an off-axis projection system. Low-level scattering was also minimal, consistent with expectations and seeing conditions. 

ANSWER I think that is controversial right now. Yes, I think there is a projection system that runs from the pars reticulata to pars compacta, but the consequences of activation of that system and how you would get access to it are not well understood at this time.

Again, the definition of system output is purposefully broad. It could have been made narrower to include only those quantities and qualities that are influenced by the system. However, to do so presupposes a more complete knowledge of the system than is usually possessed at the beginning of a research and development project. System outputs that are influenced by the system are called responses.

Deep-UV source brightness is another issue, because the power output of a 1-kW mercury-xenon lamp in the 200-250-nm range is only 30-40 mW.
