Predominates

If a vapor from the phase split is either predominantly product or predominantly byproduct, then it is removed from the process. If the vapor contains predominantly unconverted feed material, it is normally recycled to the reactor. In these cases, there is no need to carry out any separation on the vapor. [Pg.108]

The reactor effluent is thus likely to contain hydrogen, methane, benzene, toluene, and diphenyl. Because of the large differences in volatility of these components, it seems likely that partial condensation will allow the effluent to be split into a vapor stream containing predominantly hydrogen and methane and a liquid stream containing predominantly benzene, toluene, and diphenyl. [Pg.110]

Some small amount of byproduct formation occurs. The principal byproduct is di-isopropyl ether. The reactor product is cooled, and a phase separation of the resulting vapor-liquid mixture produces a vapor containing predominantly propylene and propane and a liquid containing predominantly the other components. Unreacted propylene is recycled to the reactor, and a purge prevents the buildup of propane. The first distillation in Fig. 10.3a (column Cl) removes... [Pg.281]

The strength of an acid is measured by the value of its dissociation constant, strong acids, e.g. HCl, HNO3. being substantially fully ionized in solution and weak acids predominately unionized. [Pg.12]

It is fair to say that advances in seismic surveys over the last decade have changed the way fields are developed and managed. From being a predominantly exploration focused tool, seismic has progressed to become one of the most cost effective methods for optimising field production. In many cases, seismic has allowed operators to extend the life of mature fields by several years. [Pg.17]

The volumetries of a field, along with the anticipated recovery factors, control the reserves in the field those hydrocarbons which will be produced in the future. The value of an oil or gas company lies predominantly in its hydrocarbon reserves which are used by shareholders and investors as one indication of the strength of the company, both at present and in the future. A reliable estimate of the reserves of a company is therefore important to the current value as well as the longer term prospects of an oil or gas company. [Pg.153]

The composition of natural gas varies oonsiderably from lean non-associated gas which is predominantly methane to rich associated gas containing significant proportion of natural gas liquids. Natural gas liquids (NGLs) are those components remaining once methane and all non-hydrocarbon components have been removed, i.e. (Cg-C ). [Pg.253]

Here presented results were acquainted predominantly by one-channel ten-level AE analyser IOC of the AED Laboratory Brno firm. This device is equipped by ten window threshold levels, defined fi-om top and bottom, the tenth level has not limitation fi-om top. Total dynamic range is 40 dB. The analyser enables continuous observation of total number of counts Nc, or number of counts per time unit and similar. Everything may be observed both in lull measured range and in individual levels. Range of measuring interval is SO ms up to 2500 ms. [Pg.62]

There are different possibilities to address the above set of equations which can be solved provided 2in > 3i, and provided the measured ToF information varies between measurement points. For the purpose of the present work we have taken two simplifying assumptions (a) one virtual source predominates at each measurement point, m and (b) each virtual source predominates at more than one measurement point. Note that assumption (b) ensures the condition 2m > 3i that is necessary to obtain solutions for Equations (2) and (3). These assumptions are justified by considering the defect surface as an acoustic secondary field source. At each measurement point the transducer predominantly receives signals from an... [Pg.165]

Neuronal networks are nowadays predominantly applied in classification tasks. Here, three kind of networks are tested First the backpropagation network is used, due to the fact that it is the most robust and common network. The other two networks which are considered within this study have special adapted architectures for classification tasks. The Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) Network consists of a neuronal structure that represents the LVQ learning strategy. The Fuzzy Adaptive Resonance Theory (Fuzzy-ART) network is a sophisticated network with a very complex structure but a high performance on classification tasks. Overviews on this extensive subject are given in [2] and [6]. [Pg.463]

There is a role in regulatoiy law and a role for government action. But these roles should be predominantly concerned not with detailed prescription for innumerable day to day circumstances but with influencing attitudes and creating a framework for better health and safety organisation and action by industry itself ... [Pg.1010]

The examples in the preceding section, of the flotation of lead and copper ores by xanthates, was one in which chemical forces predominated in the adsorption of the collector. Flotation processes have been applied to a number of other minerals that are either ionic in type, such as potassium chloride, or are insoluble oxides such as quartz and iron oxide, or ink pigments [needed to be removed in waste paper processing [92]]. In the case of quartz, surfactants such as alkyl amines are used, and the situation is complicated by micelle formation (see next section), which can also occur in the adsorbed layer [93, 94]. [Pg.478]

According to Kramers model, for flat barrier tops associated with predominantly small barriers, the transition from the low- to the high-damping regime is expected to occur in low-density fluids. This expectation is home out by an extensively studied model reaction, the photoisomerization of tran.s-stilbene and similar compounds [70, 71] involving a small energy barrier in the first excited singlet state whose decay after photoexcitation is directly related to the rate coefficient of tran.s-c/.s-photoisomerization and can be conveniently measured by ultrafast laser spectroscopic teclmiques. [Pg.820]

As with SCRF-PCM only macroscopic electrostatic contribntions to the Gibbs free energy of solvation are taken into account, short-range effects which are limited predominantly to the first solvation shell have to be considered by adding additional tenns. These correct for the neglect of effects caused by solnte-solvent electron correlation inclnding dispersion forces, hydrophobic interactions, dielectric saturation in the case of... [Pg.838]

At the time the experiments were perfomied (1984), this discrepancy between theory and experiment was attributed to quantum mechanical resonances drat led to enhanced reaction probability in the FlF(u = 3) chaimel for high impact parameter collisions. Flowever, since 1984, several new potential energy surfaces using a combination of ab initio calculations and empirical corrections were developed in which the bend potential near the barrier was found to be very flat or even non-collinear [49, M], in contrast to the Muckennan V surface. In 1988, Sato [ ] showed that classical trajectory calculations on a surface with a bent transition-state geometry produced angular distributions in which the FIF(u = 3) product was peaked at 0 = 0°, while the FIF(u = 2) product was predominantly scattered into the backward hemisphere (0 > 90°), thereby qualitatively reproducing the most important features in figure A3.7.5. [Pg.878]

Resonance states in the spectra, which are assignable in temis of zero-order basis will have a predominant expansion coefficient c.. Hose and Taylor [ ] have argued that for an assignable level r /,j>0.5... [Pg.1030]

Surprisingly, the origin of the eomplex oseillations and ehaos in the CO + O2 system (where traee quantities of Ft-eontaming speeies have a major infliienoe on the reaetion and, eonsequently, many of the reaetions of the Fl2 + O2 system predominate) are far from established to date. [Pg.1105]
