Plastics market size

It is interesting to note that although the market for natural rubber has grown considerably, that for the other diene rubbers has either been of slow growth or has declined. Data for approximate overall plastics production (not from IlSRP data) have also been included as a comparison of the relative sizes of the rubber and plastics markets. 

The estimate of the future market size can be made in various ways— projection of historical data, comparison with other factors such as GNP where a relationship can be established (e.g. per capita usage of plastics and per capital GNP), and detailed user surveys.

The selling price of plastics additives depends on the same factors as any other chemicals, i.e., the energy and raw material costs, research and development costs, the complexity, scale and efficiency of the manufacturing process, labour rates, sales tax and import duties, costs of product testing and regulation, freight costs, the state of customer inventories, market size and the extent of the customers need for, and dependence on, the product.

The container components include a canister, valve, and actuator. Each of these components should be considered in the preparation of a pMDI product. The majority of products marketed are in either plastic-coated glass or aluminum containers of various sizes. 

Replacing PVC with PP allows compliance with environmental standards in some pharmaceutical markets. These materials are cold formed instead of being thermoformed. Such packages require more packaging materials than thermoplastic plastic films for the packaging of the same number and same size of tablets or capsules.
