Cover the prohibition of the importation, supply or new use of amphibole asbestos or products containing it. Also prohibit the supply and use of a range of products containing chrysotile asbestos.

Iron-, copper-, and zinc complexes of rutin, dihydroquercetin, and green tea epicatechins were found to be much more efficient inhibitors than parent flavonoids of toxic effects of chrysotile asbestos fibers on peritoneal macrophages and erythrocytes [168], It was proposed that in this case the enhanced activity of metal-flavonoid complexes was increased by the absorption on chrysotile fibers.

Serpentine-asbestos An early name for the fibrous form of serpentine rock that was mined. Today the term refers to chrysotile-asbestos. 

Figures la and lb are typical curves found for the heat of immersion of polar solids in water (and are also foimd for polar and nonpolar solids in organic liquids). An example of Fig. la is found in the immersion of chrysotile asbestos having known and increasing amounts of physically adsorbed water on its surface (S ). The linear relationship between the heat of wetting and the volume adsorbed up to about a monolayer is significant and indicates surface homogeneity since the heat evolved is proportional to the amount of bare surface present. In accord with this finding, the isosteric heat values calculated from adsorption isotherms increased with coverage to a maximum near the monolayer as expected for adsorption on a surface possessing nearly uniform sites.

Promotes the adoption and application of appropriate prevention and control measures, regulations, standards, work practices and techniques for the safe use of chrysotile asbestos.

Percent chrysotile asbestos in bulk samples may be measured by X-ray powder diffraction (NIOSH Method 9000, 1984) sample dust grinded under liquid N2 wet sieved through 10-mm sieve sieved material treated with 2-propanol agitated in an ultrasonic bath filtered on a silver filter measured by XRD, using a Cu target X-ray tube.
